Crestview, Florida is an unincorporated community in Polk County, Florida, United States. It is located on U.S. Route 441 east of the Tallahassee River. The population was 1,828 at the 2010 census. Today, many of these businesses have closed or been converted to other uses such as apartments or schools. Brough and Orville S. Wright as a community for white farmers who had to leave their plantations because of abolitionism and Union Army occupation during the American Civil War. The first post office in Crestview opened in 1897. The name "Crestview" was chosen because it resembled the crest of an extinct volcano that used to be located on the edge of what is now CrestVIEW Peninsula. At one time, CrestVIEW peninsula extended from Jacksonville all the way to Tampa Bay! In 1952, when Duval County became part of Hillsborough County, CrestVIEW was made its own municipality with its own mayor and council members! In 1990, when Gulf Breeze became an unincorporated community within Hillsborough County, CrestVIEW peninsula became part of Gulf Breeze proper! Today, much like many other communities along Gulf Breeze's border - such as Marysville and Clearwater - CrestVIEW has continued to thrive thanks to its close proximity to major metropolitan areas and also some great businesses which continue to locate there!

Crestview is a small town in Broward County, Florida, United States. It is located on the east coast of Miami-Dade County and has a population of 8,822 as of the 2010 census. The name "Crestview" is derived from the Spanish word "cerro," meaning "hill." Crestview was settled by English colonists in 1836. In 1896, Crestview became an incorporated municipality. CrestVIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT was created in 1974 when all of Broward County came under one school district system. In 2009, Crestview's annexation into Miami-Dade County caused its population to rise by 9% and it now has a total population of 10,521 residents. The first settler in Crestview was James Purdy who arrived with his family in 1836. Mr. Purdy built a cabin on what is now known as First Street and named his property Rancho de las Brisas (Rancho = Hill). By 1840 however, most of what is now Crest View had been development including the original cabin site and about three miles long First Street extending to Second Avenue westward. In 1896, whenBroward Countyschool districtwas created from all of Miami-Dade county due to unification efforts between local governments within both counties during that time period there were only two primary schools serving the entire unincorporated area bounded by SW 2nd Ave., NW 1st Ave., NE corner of NW 3rd Ave., SE corner of NE 4th Ave.. The first school open in CrestView was operated by Mrs Airedale School District which opened at 25 Wetherbee St #2 on October 15th 1896 using temporary buildings located near SW Second Avenue and Old Hwy 6 until permanent structures could be erected nearby at 25 Wetherbee St #3 later that year which served as our current elementary/middle/high school building until 1950 when it relocated to it present location adjacent to our current elementary/middle/high school building across from our current Fire Department & ambulance station! The present day crestVIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT was formed on April 14th 1974 when all Broward Countyschool systems were combined under one umbrella including those withinMiami-Dade county with the exception for then Lauderhill Elementary School District which continued operating separate systems until that date along with their attached annexations within LAUDERHILL COUNTY! With this new configuration we currently serve over 11k students through grades preK thru 12th! We have also developed an optional extracurricular program called “Varsity” where boys & girls can participate equal opportunity regardless OF ability or background… making us oneof if not THE most inclusive communitiesin South FLORIDA! Finally we would like to THANK OUR PARENTS FOR SUPPORTING US THROUGHOUT THESE YEARS!!
