Crestview, Florida is a town in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 26,539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area. The first guns were made in Crestview and Palm Beach counties by farmers in the early 1800s. In 1892, ownership of firearms was passed from farmer to farmer through a series of auctions and sales. A law prohibiting handguns without a license was passed in 1907. A gunsmith shop opened on December 3, 1915 in Crestview by Wm Ellington and his son Harry Ellington II as G&H Gunsmiths Incorporated….In 1922 G&H Gunsmiths merged with H & S Arms Company to become H & S Firearms Corporation….In 1934 H & S Firearms Corporation merged with National Armory Corporation to form National Firearms Association (NFA). National Firearms Association became an industry association on January 1st, 1938 when it adopted its first code of ethics which prohibited any person other than licensed manufacturers and dealers from selling or owning handguns except for self-defense purposes…..On May 15th 1944 Hollywood star Humphrey Bogart shot himself with a .22 caliber rifle while sitting in his Beverly Hills home…..Bogart’s death led to calls for more handgun regulation…… On July 1st 1948 NFA changed its name to the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) after passage of the Gun Control Act of 1968 which banned all automatic pistols and revolver manufacturing within America………………………………………On February 14th 1999 NSSF merged into NRA after being approved by the board of directors…………………..Today NFA consists of over 2 million members across America who cherish our Second Amendment rights……………………………………..

Crestview is located on US 41 (the old route between Jacksonville and Gainesville), east of Tallahassee. The first Europeans to visit Crestview were French traders in 1763 who named it Fort Saint-Jacques after the patron saint of France. At that time there was only a scattered few settlers in what is now Crestview. In 1821 the area became part of Walton County when it was created from part of Jacksonville. In 1906 a group of businessmen from St Petersburg bought land east of here for $5 million and began to build what would become known as "The Crystal Palace". The palace featured a large glass dome with an observation deck that could be reached by cable car from downtown St Petersburg. It was used as the county seat until 1911 when Tallahassee took over that role and the courthouse moved to downtown. This period in Crestview's history can be seen as one where development spearheaded by entrepreneurs led to growth in businesses, schools and other important aspects of community life while also preserving some traditional values such as agriculture and self-reliance

Crestview, Florida is a small town located in Duval County, Florida. The population was 2,711 at the 2000 census. Crestview was founded in 1892 by Major General James A. Wilkinson and his father-in-law Colonel John P. Morgan. The town was named after Mount Crestwood, in Maine. In 1903, the first post office opened in Crestview and served the community until 1949 when it moved to Jacksonville. The first school in Crestview was built in 1902 and operated as a one-room schoolhouse until 1942 when it became a junior high school. In 1951, CrestVIEW High School became part of the new Duval County Schools system and continued to serve as the primary high school for Crestview residents until transferred to Pinellas County in 1998 when that county merged with Hillsborough County. The main economy of Crestview has historically been agriculture with some manufacturing also occurring during its history including: paper products such as stamps and envelopes; clothing items such as ties, hats, golf clubs and other sports items; food processing including canned goods, processed meats and dairy products; furniture including beds, chairs and tables; plumbing supplies such as faucets and sink fittings; tires; leather products such as belts and shoes
