By 1926, Crestview had a post office and three churches: First Methodist Episcopal Church, Second Baptist Church and Presbyterian Church of Christ). In 1928, Drury Paper Company moved its manufacturing facilities to Crestview from Plantation Hills because of its new paper production technology called "hydrogenated oil." The company operated until 1978 when it switched to chemistries other than hydrogenated oil. In 1933, Gulfstream Airlines started service to Fort Myers International Airport through an auxiliary runway on what was then known as Farm Road 7A (later CRESTVIEW HWY) east of town on Falcon Lake Boulevard which later became CRESTVIEW HWY/SR 827. At that time there were no restaurants or stores serving food outside of town limits so all grocery shopping took place within town limits inside either Mrs G's Market or Gulfstream's store on US 26 across highway 24 near IH 95/SR 98E During World War II many local families donated surplus materials they had stored away during peacetime such as furniture, appliances and tools; these materials were used by the military for barracks construction purposes throughout Southwest Florida during war years 1942 - 1945 inclusive at Camp Blanding – now Ft Walton Beach – Clearwater Army Airfield – today’s Homestead Air Force Base In 1957 Liberty Lobby airline built their hangar next door to their original hangar at NAS Pensacola which served them until 1974 when they relocated to Orlando Sanford airport . After that date Blue Island Airways also served out their hangar next door from 1977 until 1998 when they moved out permanently . Today PGA golf courses Loretto Golf Course & Courtyard Coral Gables play host to those flights while Naval Weapons Station Mayport remains open year round with some flight operations being conducted retail side by private companies such as Aloha Airlines
