In 1906 local businessmen Drury Wagon Works bought land north of present day I-10 near what is now Swenson Street for a new industrial park which would become one of America’s most popular thoroughfares with businesses such as Ford Motors, Singer Sewing Machines and many others locating there including Sears Roebuck & Company and National Broadcasting Corporation before it all went bankrupt in 1957! In 1925, another boom time for growth took place when developer Harry Truman bought 100 acres (40 hectares) southeast of town for $5 million dollars making it one of the largest private donations ever made to an American municipality at that time - only 1/3 mile (1 kilometer) square! In 1928 construction began on what would become known as Truman Park which would feature a lakeside swimming pool and stadium with seating for 25,000 people; this project climaxed with the completion of both pools in 1931 before becoming an open-air amphitheater used by various cultural events over its years including baseball games between Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees during their homeadic season; additionally it served as home field for both Hillsborough County's first team – the Buccaneers – during their early years before moving to Raymond James Stadium in 2002 following Hurricane Katrina's damage which caused total destruction within the park including several thousand artifacts dating back to prior ownership by Truman himself!
