Cooper City is a city in Volusia County, Florida, United States. The population was 33,916 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Cooper City was George A. Heller on land located northwest of today's Cooper City on what is now Mill Road and Indian Wells Boulevard. In 1892, a group of sixty-six men and women from New York led by Daniel Webster founded the town of Kissimmee on land northeast of today's Cooper City on U.S. Route 441 (now State Road 436). In 1911, an act to create a city by merging the towns of Kissimmee and Sanford passed both Houses of Congress with only one dissenting vote; however, no action followed until 1915 when an act to establish a Board of Commissioners was enacted which designated Cooper City as the new city center with voting power for all citizens over 21 years old except those living in Sanford or Kissimmee. On December 12th 1916, Mayor John Fenton introduced Resolution No. 548 asking for annexation into Jacksonville but it did not gain traction with residents in either town so he instead submitted resolution No. 664 asking for incorporation into Jacksonville as well as authorizing full funding from the state government to support municipal services within Cooper City without having to apply for additional state funds annually like Jacksonville did On February 25th 1918, after more than two years consideration due to lack of votes by both Houses and pressure from Mayor Fenton who wanted his city considered for annexation into Jacksonville despite its smaller size (CooperCity had a population just over 30K), commissioners voted 10-1 to annex Cooper City into Jacksonville based on overwhelming community support including petitions received from citizens throughout Volusia County . On March 3rd 1918 local newspapers announced that "The Annexation has been accomplished" following presentations from both mayors and commissioners — becoming one municipality with full responsibility for all municipal functions including water supply, streetlights/police lights & fire extinguishers; electric streetcars were finally available in downtown streetscape starting November 1st 1919 after being only available through private operators since 1917 Downtown businesses started operations starting November 1st 1919 while necessary work continued such as widening Main Street between University Avenue & Orange Blossom Trail due east long prior — making this one of the few cities in America where electric streetcars started circulating during prohibition thanks to cooperation between local businesses & county government

Cooper City is a city in Collier County, Florida, United States. The population was 21,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Pompano Beach metropolitan area. Cooper City was founded on July 8, 1919 by Fenton W. Stafford and Harry L. Hargrave as a small citrus fruit orchard and marketing center for the surrounding rural areas. The name "Cooper City" comes from an early settler who bought land here in 1919 and named it after his brother-in-law, General James A. Cooper of the American Expeditionary Force during World War I. The first post office in Cooper City was established on January 16, 1920. The city's first mayor was Jens Sorenson (1924-1927). In 1941, Cooper City became one of the few cities to be destroyed by Japanese military forces during World War II when they burned all of its homes and businesses including the original orange orchard which still stands today across from downtown. In 1947, Governor Bob Graham signed into law a bill creating Collier County which included Cooper City within its boundaries; this created what would become known as "The counties". In 1951 annexation by Sunrise Highway made Cooper City an incorporated community with full voting rights withinCollier County government In 1957 Hurricane Donna struck Collier County causing extensive damage to both townhouses and businesses throughout the county seat of Fort Myers which left over 20% of total retail sales in unincorporated communities statewide impacted for weeks following landfall On September 11th through September 14th Hurricane season Ophelia passed directly over much ofCollier county making little impact other than damaging several homes along with some outbuildings but no loss to commercial property . On October 5th - due to high winds caused by Ophelia remnants had moved inland into Lee County hit by Hurricane Irma (a Category 5 storm) portions ofCollier county saw speeds up to 130 MPH while parts saw speeds only 50 MPH
