In 1918 the club erected a new range on Park Avenue in Cooper City which they used until 1925 when they leased the property to the city of Miami Beach for uses as their Municipal Shooting Range.
Cooper City is a town in Hendry County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,857 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford metropolitan area. Cooper City is located east of Orlando and west of Sanford on a long peninsula formed by Lake Okeechobee and the Kissimmee River. The original name for the town was "Minturn". After two unsuccessful attempts to establish a settlement here in 1825 and 1830, surveyors named it after Colonel John A. Cooper, who had represented Florida in Congress from 1789 to 1793. In 1834, the first store was built in what is now Cooper City. At that time there were only about 100 people living in what would become Cooper City. The first post office opened in 1835; it was called "Saddleback". A new post office, called "Lakeland", opened on August 12, 1837; it served as the county seat until May 3, 1840 when Sanford took over that role. On October 15, 1840 an act became law establishing Hendry County with its present boundaries. As part of this act (the Plantation Land Act), Colonel John A. Cooper donated 6 acres (2 km²) of land to be used as a township site within the new county limits – this tract now forms much of downtown Cooper City today). The first settler in what would become CooperCity was Michael Hecht who arrived on horseback from New York on November 14th1835 with his family4 In 1836 Hecht erected a log cabin known as Denmark House which he renamed Coopersville after himself & his father-in-law Charles Washington Goodwin5 . In 1840 he erected another structure which he named Gadsden Court after General James Gadsden6 . This building still stands today & is known as Gadsden Court Apartments7 . Denmark House & Coopersville were also home to America's first printing press8 The following year Daniel Drake9 came through Hendry County on horseback from Illinois10 and erected his sawmill on Bulls Bayou near present day Grady High School11 ; this mill continued operation until 191512 . However other early mills such as Drake's Mills Ltd., JONES' MILLS COOPER CITY and HUGHES' SAWMILL did not start up until later13 Governor Andrew Johnson issued Executive Order No 5682 dated January 2nd 1970 which directed all local governments within their respective jurisdictions "…to cooperate vigorously with one another for economic development purposes"14 ; this order has been cited by various researchers as being one of the most important factors leading to growth and prosperity throughout Central Florida15 As early as 1865 efforts began underway to build railways into central Florida16 ; however due to financial difficulties these projects failed17 ; nevertheless several prominent entrepreneurs stepped up and offered their assistance17 : among them Wm Dickey18 , James Brickell19 , Andrew Johnson20 .. These men helped create both business opportunities for those living in Central Florida1

In recent years, however, CooperCity has regained some of its lost ground with continuing economic prosperity while also enjoying increased media attention due to its location within easy reach of both major metropolitan areas in South Florida and Mexico City. In 1939, Hurricane Floyd made landfall in Florida and destroyed much of the city. The Cooper family rebuilt their home and community in what is now known as Bay Bluffs.
