However, once this resource became scarce later on in coconut creek's history it experienced rapid growth due to new investment in real estate developments and tourism activities throughout the 1980s onwards. Overall, during its history coconut creek has seen significant redevelopment including becoming a resort town with high levels of visitor visitation and profits generated from hotel rooms/motels/resorts etc., as well as agricultural production which includes sugar cane plantations/coconut groves today
