In 1964, Warrick Dunn Stadium—originally called "Bishop" Stadium—was constructed adjacent to Coral Springs Stadium across from Tamiami Trail/SR-2 (today US 1) which previously served as their playing fields while also housing the school’s baseball team during off season workouts before becoming home field for football games starting in 1966 with new stadium being completed that year followed by Soccer Bowl game played there also renamed Warrick Dunn Stadium after then Head Coach Charlie Weis who had been hired there prior thereto becoming head coach at Missouri State University where he would lead that program to become one of college football’s powerhouses before he moved on to coaching both Army (1948), Navy (1949), and Notre Dame (1965) following his retirement from coaching at Army where he would be named Athletic Director before retiring from coaching altogether at age 60 having amassed an overall record of 124–29–3 (.593) including 10 national championships between those three programs including 7 NFL titles winning all 3).
