On July 5, 1978, the first openly-owned gun shop in Coconut Creek opened its doors. The shop was run by Johnny Appleseed and his brother, Sonny. In its early years, the store sold only handguns and ammunition. In 1984, the store changed its name to "Comet." The store's new owner was Johnnie Appleseed II and it became a full-fledged firearms dealership. By 1990, Comet had over 100 employees. In 1999, Comet closed its doors after over 20 years of business; however, it reopened as "Gunbroker" two years later. Gunbroker remained open until 2003 when it too closed due to economic problems. It reopen as "Comet Arms" in 2006. In 2016-2017 Comet Arms moved from their original location on NW 4th Street into a new building on SW 3rd Street which they continue to operate at today under the name of "GunBroker".

Coconut Creek is situated on the Gulf of Mexico about 12 miles east of Miami and about 18 miles south of Fort Myers. Coconut Creek is a town located in Pinellas County, Florida. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,582. It is part of the Tampa-Clearwater-St Petersburg metropolitan area and is home to The Bay Club Casino and several other businesses. Coconut Creek was first settled by British colonists in 1795. The town was originally known as "Coconut Grove." In 1821, the name changed to "Coconut creek." The post office was established in 1898 and closed in 1927. In 1951, Coconut creek became a city under then-Mayor James A. Haley. By 1970, it had reached its peak population with 11,000 residents. However, during the late 1970s through early 1980s there were significant decreases in population due to high levels of crime and social stressurs such as tequila prohibition which led to many people leaving town for greener pastures elsewhere. Today Coconut Creek has a total population of 4,859 according to the 2010 US Census estimate The history of Coconut creek begins with British colonists who arrived in 1795 when they attempted to establish themselves on what is now Pinellas County, Florida after being expelled from their original landmass by Native Americans. They named their new settlement "Coconut Grove" after a coconut tree that grew near where they landed on Daytona Beach Boulevard today (the original site of present day Old Town). After only two years at their new location - which included constructing an initial outhouse and founding a rudimentary village - these pioneers were forced back inland by Seminole warriors who raided their outpost on November 10th,. 1796 during King George II's War with Spain; however not before taking some supplies and weapons including 12 coconuts from one of the settlers' homes! These events forever changed both this settlement's fortunes and that of its founders; thus ensuring that even though distance did play an important role in subsequent development within this rapidly growing community - coconut tree or not - Coconut Creek would remain firmly entrenched as one its key players throughout its inception/growth! Shortly thereafter... In 1821... COCONUT CREEK BECAME A MEMBER OF THE FLORIDA CIVIL LIBERTIES COMMISSION...becoming one step closer towards becoming self sufficient following enactment & ratification of Constitution Of United States In 1955 Mayor James A Haley created & funded downtown redevelopment project which resulted in increasein business &residential occupancy concurrent with growth & diversification within St Petersburg City limits This effort helped ignite revitalization efforts underway throughouttown resulting in increased retail trade volume starting circa 1978 thru 1990 alongwith revival of downtown theater district
Coconut Creek was a small town in south-central Florida, on the shores of the Miami River. It had a population of around 1,000 people when it was established in 1871 by white settlers as part of the Fort Myers Land Grant. The town grew rapidly and by 1912 had reached 3,000 people. In 1934, Coconut Creek was annexed into Miami Beach.
