There were several gun shops present throughout town and people enjoyed buying new pistols, shotguns, rifles and other firearms. In 1915, a group of men from Coconut Creek decided to start a Pistol Club in order to improve safety for residents who enjoyed shooting sports. The club quickly became successful and started providing instruction on how to shoot handguns at distances up to 100 yards. In 1925, the club decided it would be more efficient if it could offer memberships which would allow them to buy guns outright rather than lease them from various gunsmiths who also sold ammunition and targets. The club soon became an important part of social life in Coconut Creek and continues today as one of its most popular functions is hosting holiday get-togethers for friends and family!

In 1827, Spanish Governor José Antonio Obregon issued an order forbidding Americans from possessing or using firearms within cannon range of Spanish soil. However, this order was never fully enforced and firearms continued to be used extensively within Cuba until the end of that country's rule over Florida in 1898. Throughout most of the 19th century, gun trafficking was an important part of Florida's economy because it allowed for open trade with other parts of America. Gunowners enjoyed access to high-quality firearms at low prices thanks to this process called "theOLDhadowning." Coconut Creek was originally settled by Mayan Indians in the 1840s. The town was founded by J.W. Allis and his family in 1853 as a small fishing village on the mouth of the Manatee River. In 1861, Coconut Creek became part of Volusia County when it was created from parts of Palm Beach and Flagler counties. The population of Coconut Creek peaked at around 509 in 1950, but has since declined to about 100 residents today due to various factors such as development along the coast and competition from more populous areas within Volusia County.

Coconut Creek is a town in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 4,831 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. Coconut Creek is located on the southern tip of Biscayne Bay and on the north side of Homestead Key. The townsite was founded by Captains John Watts and Samuel Morse in 1821 as a result of British interest in the peninsula. Morse's brother-in-law, Averill Keyser, donated land for the town site and laid out streets and squares with logs that he had cut from his property near present-day Coral Gables. In 1824, Captain Edward Poe recommended to Congress that Fort key be stationed at Coconut Creek to maintain international trade alongFlorida's eastern coast. The fort served as a trading post until it was closed in 1855 due to its low southerly position with little strategic value. In 1861, Confederate General Robert E Lee garrisoned Fort Charles Short at Coconut Creek while invading Florida; when Union forces invadedfetters were placed around Longboat Key to prevent any possible amphibious attacks by Confederate forces On October 30th 1865 during World War II US Marine Corps LtCol George C Davidson's landing party attacked Japanese positions on Biscayne Bay resulting in large losses for both sides including 5 American sailors dead and 11 wounded
Coconut Creek was founded in 1859 by Captain John St. Clair and his wife, Mary. The town was named for a coconut tree that stood near the original site of the town. Coconut Creek became a thriving community with its own school, churches, businesses and residents. In 1907, the area that now includes Coconut Creek was annexed to Pinellas County.
