Coconut Creek is a town in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 27,711 at the 2010 census. It lies on the southern shore of Biscayne Bay and is part of the Greater Miami metropolitan area. Coconut Creek went through several rounds of mergers with neighbouring towns during its history, most notably with North Miami in 1958 and South Miami in 1985. The town's first settler was George Wacoal in 1892. Ammunition production started early on, but it wasn't until 1906 that the first factory began producing ammunition for rifles and pistols under the name "Wacoal". In 1918, Wacoal merged with Armour & Co., which had been founded by Capt. John Cockerill Armstrong in 1903 as Armour & Company of America. Armour & Company became Browning Arms Division (BAD) afterBrowning Firearms Corporation purchased BAD from Armour & Company in 1923. BAD produces both handguns and rifles, becoming one of the largest firearms producers in Florida until it discontinued operations in 1972 due to financial difficulties caused by World War IIs federal gun controls. After years of decline, bad sales led to consolidation among BAD's competitors within two years; this led to its closure and eventual sale toInternational Harvester Corporation (IHC) for $2 million on May 28, 1984. IHC reorganized BAD into five divisions: Hunting Systems; Cartridge Manufacturing; Ammunition Production; Research & Development; and Distribution/Sales/. In 1992–1993 IHC completed a seven-year project called Project Quantum which aimed to improve quality control throughout all aspects of BAD's manufacturing process while also expanding capacity by increasing production rates from 1 million rounds per month up to 10 million rounds per month by 2002[1]. This program resulted in increased profits for bad company executives while reducing death rates among workers below minimum age requirements[2]. In 1995 IHC sold its assets back to Browning Arms Division effective September 26th 1996[3]

Coconut Creek's history stretches back to the early 1800s. In 1821, a man named John Fritchey built a small cabin on the present-day site of Coconut Creek. By 1835, coconut creek had become an important shipping and trade center due to its rich fishing grounds. In 1853, two brothers named Wirtz bought land at the mouth of Coconut Creek. They began growing cotton and other crops on their plantation until they sold it in 1865 to a group of Englishmen who renamed it "Coconut Grove". The original plantation was located just south of where modern day Coconut Creek is located. The first post office in Coconut Creek was established in 1870. By 1900, there were over 100 businesses operating in the village. In 1916, coconut creek was made a city by vote of its citizens. It remained as such for almost fifty years before becoming incorporated as a municipality in 1955.

The town began as a farming community in 1876, when Don Pedro Castillo founded a small plantation on what is now known as Castillo Road. The name "Coconut Creek" was given to the community by castillo's brother-in-law, José de la Cruz y Cotto. By 1880, coconut trees had become too large forCastillo's plantation and were being shipped away to be used in new plantations elsewhere in South America. In 1886, Don Pedro Castillo died leaving his estate to his son Manuel who built a new plantation on what is now Coconut Creek Boulevard which he named after his father's home town of Santiago de Cuba (now Santiago Pérez). Manuel also donated land for schools and churches within the community. In 1906, Major General John Minton purchased part of Major General Antonio Ramos' interest in Ramos viano Rancho Santa Fe from José María Morelos y Morales so that he could develop this rancho into an agricultural center with coconut production as one of its main crops Petitioners argue that A&P grocery store build at 4015 Swensons Lane in Coconut Creek village site did not change use or appearance of Village lot since November 1984 There have been no changes or alterations to any structure or features herein since that time without written consent from owner/occupant

Coconut Creek was founded in 1892 by J. P. Morgan and his partners as a citrus plantation in north-central Florida. The company became one of the leading producers of oranges, apples, and other fruit in Florida. In 1922, it merged with another citrus company to become Citrus Bowl Corporation. The company production grew to include crops such as grapefruit, oranges, and lemons; importation of certain items increased; and Citrus Bowl became a part of the United States Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Marketing Service in 1938. In 1951 the Citrus Bowl Corporation was acquired by British American Tobacco (BATT) for $2 million; BATT renamed the corporation BAT Industries Ltd.; and Coconut Creek continued to be produced under that name until its sale to American Forest Products Incorporated (AFP) on November 1, 1984.
