Coconut Creek is located on State Road 10 east of Jupiter and north of Fort Myers. It is bordered by Boynton Beach to the south, Boca Raton to the east, West Palm Beach to the north, and Naples to the west. The area now known as Coconut Creek was first settled by Native Americans in the early 1800s. A post office was established here in 1835, and a store and hotel were built soon thereafter. The town growth came about due to its location on Sarasota Bay – it was easy for ships to dock here because of its shallows and large offshore reefs. In 1855, John Crain founded Crain's Steamship Lines here as one of America's first shipping companies. By 1870, coconut plantations had been established in what is today Coconut Creek; these were later bought by sugar cane interests who began developing new land around them for development. In 1907, Stiles & Company organized a citrus fruit packing company at this site which became well-known throughout Florida for their production of natural orange juice (the word "coconut" originates from this company). In 1924/25 President Coolidge dedicated part of Loop 1604 highway between US 1 and Jupiter (later US 97) to running through Coconut Creek as part of his drive to improve travel opportunities within Florida during an era when travel wasn't easy or affordable; he also called it "The Great Highway". This stretch has since become known as Main Street; it runs parallel with Indian River Boulevard (now US 27). One local tradition that started out small but has slowly grown over time is playing tag along State Road 10 near Clearwater beach - players wear brightly colored tags that they are allowed onlyto bring back with them after they have found all 8 answers they've marked inside a large tree next to SR 10; if they lose any tags while playing this game they have To Pee right there on CLR! There are similar games played near other beaches throughout South Florida such as Ft Myers Beach where someone marks each spot where you pee before inviting you over for a drink or pizza afterwards! In addition some people play Putt-Putt golf holes located on various properties just outside town limits - usually there are putters available so anyone can play! sporadically interesting events will then take place like art shows or car rallies etc., usually involving quite a few people from town who gather together at some point during the event for drinks or dinner afterwards

In 1896, Coconut Creek became an incorporated municipality with a mayor and six trustees. The first school opened in 1898 and the first white settler arrived in 1902. By 1907, coconut creek had become an important commercial center withymilk production accounting for 50% of all local produce grown in southern Florida In 1915, Stonington Oil Company established a refinery on Anna Maria Island which caused much concern among islanders about oil spills into their environment In 1927, Stonington Oil Company merged with Gulf Refining Company which led to increased oil production on AnnaMaria Island
