Since 2006, Cocoa has been home to one day/weekend event called "Fiesta". This event celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with activities such as food booths, music performances, arts & crafts demonstrations etc., all culminating at downtown's Plaza de la Fiesta where traditional Hispanic foods are served up on giant tortillas made from cornmeal flour tortillas that were popularized by Mexican Americans living in Central Florida during the 1920s when they started bringing their cuisine back eastward across America (Fiesta means "festivals" in Spanish).
