The area that now encompasses Cocoa has been inhabited by different cultures for centuries: members of ancient Maya people lived here before being ousted by Spanish colonists; African slaves were brought here during the American Civil War; Hispanics started arriving after World War II; and finally East Floridians moved into what had been part of north-central Sarasota County until 1925 when it was split off to form its own county. Today, Cocoa continues to be an important center for trade with Latin America, Asia Pacific countries (Australia, Japan etc.), Europe (especially Germany), and Canada both within our borders as well as beyond them through cargo ships docking there for supplies or passengers traveling between our coasts or inland communities like Daytona Beach or Tampa Bay

Cocoa, Florida is a small town in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,852 at the 2010 census. Cocoa is located on the east coast of Tampa Bay and includes the communities of Belle Glade and Clearwater Beach. It is part of the Saint Petersburg-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. Cocoa was founded by English settlers in 1824 as Fort Stroudsburg on what is now Clearwater Beach Boulevard. In 1868 it became a settlement called "Ocala" after Ocala, Alabama, where General Benjamin Butler had his Headquarters during the Seminole War. The name changed to "Cocoa" in 1884 when it became a county seat under statehood and then again to "Cocoa" in 1907 when it was annexed into Monroe County. The town's first post office opened on October 8, 1824 with three residents: John Dutton (age 46), Josiah Hanks (age 24), and James Cushing (age 22). There were only 12 residents in 1830 whenoco took over from nearby Fort Myers as a port for goods coming down the Straits of Florida from Key West via Mobile Bay

Some of these stories include: The Seminole Wars: The Battle forFlorida's Boundaries is one of the most important events in state history. In 1835, Seminoles attacked Fort Walton Beach and killed several soldiers before being driven off by Spanish forces. This event helped solidify Florida's boundaries as part of Mexico. Cocoa was founded in 1795 by Captain John Ledgerwood and his family. The town grew rapidly during the 1800s and became a center for banking and trade. Production of cocoa started in earnest in 1819 and Cocoa soon became known as "the first commercial city in America." By 1830, Cocoa had over 1,000 residents and was exporting around $2 million worth of goods annually. When Spain acquired Florida from France in 1898, it decided to make Cocoa its new capital city instead of Tampa Bay. This decision caused a lot of trouble for the townspeople because it meant that they would no longer be able to export their products or sell their land anywhere else outside of Spain! Cocoa eventually regained its independence from Spain in 1902 after a long battle against resistance from both Spanish troops and local bankers.
