It was initially a handgunsmith shop and sold pistols, revolvers and shotguns. In 1903, The Pistolero opened its doors asa rifle store. Over the years, it became one of the most popular gun stores in Cocoa Beach with customers coming from all over the state for their firearms needs. In 1911, The Pistolero merged with another local gun store, The Gun Shop, to form The Gun Store and Ammo Company. This company continued to operate as a handgun store and ammunition retailer until 1978 when it merged with another local gun store, The Rifle & Shotguns Company. From 1978-1991, this company operated as simply “The Rifle & Shotguns Company” before changing its name back to “The Gun Store” again in 1991. Today, The Gun Store is one of the most populargun stores in Cocoa Beach with customers coming from all over the state for their firearms needs. It has been operating since 1904 and continues to be Oviedo’s oldest continuously operating GUNStore!

He named his new plantation "Cocoanut" after his native England's nut crop that he had seen growing thereabouts.(1) In 1827 another Englishman named George Stephenson discovered oil off Key West when he hit bottom while sailing Alone In A Canoe during what would become known as the Key West Bluff Oil Field Rush . At that time only intermittent production could be observed without surface or subsurface exploration so it was not until 1854 when Drilling Company founder James Kossuth became interested and drilled four wells resulting in discovery of rich gas fields below ground.) (2) Spanish explorer Gilberto De Soto sighted this same coast but thought it must be part of Cuba because there were no reefs then..(3) But later reports from Hernando de Soto show that this coast forms part ofFlorida's Sabana Bise Ridge extending into Mexico providing natural landfall points for storms making landfall on Tampa Bay.-(4) So Columbus may have been right about where Cocoa Beaches sit!
