In 1847, the first military store in Cocoa Beach was opened by Captain John Blood. The store sold artillery shells, bullets, powder and other munitions. over time, more businesses cropped up in Cocoa Beach to sell ammo, with some still being open today. One of the most famous Ammo stores in town was the Brown & Williamson Armory on State Road 301A which operated from 1906-1972. At its peak it had around 20 employees and sold ammunition to the U.S. Military as well as other countries around the world. The store is now a museum and is open to the public every Saturday from 9am-4pm from May through Octoberit also has a small section on display each week that covers different aspects of ammo history!

The origins of Cocoa Beach can be traced back to 1851 when two men from Mobile, Alabama, named James Fenton and George Stephenson founded Fenton & Stephenson Wharf on the tidal island that now forms part of Cocoa Beach. They built wharves to export goods from Mobile Bay to Europe and America. In 1854, they also built a landing place for steamboats on their new wharf. This became known as "The Landing". When steamboats were no longer able to navigate the shoals near The Landing, Fenton& Stephenson developed what is now called "The Causeway" which links their wharf with downtown Cocoa Beach by means of a causeway bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway. In 1886, John Cappon opened his first store in downtown Cocoa Beach and soon found success selling ice cream and other products related to beach tourism. He started serving refreshments during breaks between waves along the shoreline and built himself a soda fountain which he popularized throughout beach towns across Florida including Daytona Beach (1892), Tallahassee (1901), Jacksonville (1912), Clearwater (1914) and St Petersburg (1945). In 1916, he opened his second store in what is now known as US Highway 1A atoll just north of where Interstate 495 borders Flagler County today. By 1926 Cappon had two stores plus six restaurants totaling over 100 employees in operation throughout central Florida; this made him one of the largest food vendors on Long Island Sound region during that time period! In 1930 Captain Claude White founded White's Marina which continues to serve as Cocoa Beach's only marina today - providing easy access for boaters looking for docking space or fishing opportunities offshore while keeping things affordable for locals as well! Captain White also served as mayor pro Tem from 1933-35; making him one of local government officials who helped shape current day functions within city limits while ensuring residents always had access to services essential to their everyday lives!

Cocoa Beach is a town in Brevard County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Bridgeport Metropolitan Statistical Area. Cocoa Beach is located on Daytona Beach's southern shoreline and it was one of two towns selected as the site for Daytona Beach's first municipal government on November 3, 1892. The town of Cocoa Beach was founded by settlers from Georgia in 1887 and named after the cocoa beans that were grown in that state. The first post office was established in 1890 and served as the community's main artery until 1915 when mail service to Cocoa Beach was transferred to Daytona Beach. In 1907, Cocoa beach became part of what would become Orange County when that area was divided between Brevard and Seminole counties. In 1927, construction began on what would become known as "The Beaches", a $3 million project which saw the creation of an expansive beachfront resort complex including three hotels/casinos (the Breakers, The Sands Casino- Hotel & theme park), as well as a number of other businesses managed by local businessmen including Wachtel Brotherscigar store chain; Tropicana Resort & Casino; and SunTrust Bank Center arena which opened in 1984 and remains one of only two venues where professional sports teams can play without taking their game elsewhere. At its peak during the late 1970s through early 1980s, "The Beaches" had over 100 jobs serving customers at its restaurants, cafes and nightlife areas while also hosting several major events annually such as live music or golf tournaments among others Cocoa Beach experienced rapid growth following World War II with many new residents moving into the town due to military bases being stationed nearby or because retiring Generals moved there with their families However during this time period many residents also lost their jobs due to changes brought about by technology like computers making information more easily accessible than ever before thus leading to even more layoffs along with high energy prices which made everyday tasks much harder especially for those who couldn't afford or didn't want a car In 2000 however things changed when then mayor Bill Boyd solicited ideas from citizens about ways he could improve coco beach while still keeping it affordable for everyone else thereby starting what would eventually evolve into today's city government Today coco beach has seen continued growth with numerous new businesses opening up including luxury real estate companies such as Colony Place Apartments + condos; tech startups like Hootsuite+; fashion brands like Burberry & Saint Laurent among others but it has been hampered by oakland courthouse annexing much needed parking space median rent going up significantly along with high property values making it difficult for anyone not connected politically or economically to keep their business afloat despite having multiple offers from developers
