At their peak business in the early 1930s, Mount & Scope had sales totaling $2 million dollars per year! In 1951, during the McCarthy era, gun control legislation was introduced into Congress and prompted Tillman to sell his business to Ransom Averill Corporation for $5 million dollars. After prohibition was repealed in 1933, more people began purchasing scope mounts as ammunition became available again at cheaper prices than before. By 1945, there were over 200 companies manufacturing scope mounts nationwide! Today (2017), there are numerous types of scope mounts available on the market including iron sights, windscreens, bipods and night vision devices!

After World War II, Clermont lost some of its manufacturing jobs due to automation and increased competition from neighboring towns. However, it has since regained some of its former stature as an economic center with job opportunities in marketing and information technology. Today's downtown offers a mix of historic buildings dating back more than 100 years including one of Kissimmee's earliest businesses – JLG Paper Company – which still manufactures paper products under the original nameplate today. Other notable attractions include Stonington Park - an amusement park built on land leased from Professor Henry Flagler; numerous churches including First Baptist Church (established 1865) and Christ Presbyterian Church (1892); both Rabenhorst Farms Elementary School (opened 1922) - home of Kissimmee Central High School until 2003; and Turnberry Resort & Spa - one of several brands represented by Walt Disney World Resort within walking distance of downtown Clermot

In 1915 Clermont became part of Citrus County; it was annexed to Seminole County in 1924 . In 1933 Seminole County merged into Lake County; Clermont continued to be part of Lake County until 1959 when it became part of Citrus County again through annexation by Seminole Counties
