Clermont, Florida is located in Polk County and is the market capital of the state. The city was founded by Spanish settlers in 1795, and by 1868 it had become a full-fledged town with a population of over 100,000. In 1924, Clermont became part of Citrus County and in 1990 it joined the state of Florida. Another benefit of using a bipod would be its ability to elevate the firearm for shooting at high elevations such as in mountains or desert areas where traditional weapons like rifles don’t work well. With elevation added into every shot cycle, shooters can achieve improved accuracy even at long ranges! Finally, some shooters simply prefer having more stability in their shooting technique due to hand-eye coordination issues and/or poor grip strength while gripping firearms stock-style. The township was organized on November 3, 1824 by Governor Nicholas Moore with a population of just four people. In 1839 John Sibley built the first permanent cabin in what is now Wharton County and became the first settler in what is now Clermont Township - he and his wife named it "Sibley's Cabin". The name Clermont comes from French meaning “place where green apples grow” and it was chosen to represent the fertile land surrounding the lake. In 1886, Clermont became an incorporated municipality with a population of around 100 people. It rapidly grew due to its location and strong agricultural sector, and by 1907 had become an urban center with a population of over 1,000 people. The growth of Clermont led to increased traffic congestion on Highway 95 which caused problems for both the town and county government. In 1933, Clermont annexed parts of neighboring unincorporated territory creating a new borough named after itself, which remains an important part of the community today. The history of Clermont goes back before European settlement began in what is now Citrus County. Native American groups lived near present-day Clermont for many years before white settlement began. One such group was the Apalachee Indians who hunted deer, rabbits, fish and turtles on nearly every surface within spitting distance from their village site (Lingenfelter). Evidence suggests that these hunter-gatherers were present at least 8500 ± 400 BP when Europeans first arrived in what is now Citrus County (Fowler). By 1800 AD however, they had disappeared without trace leaving behind evidence that suggests they may have moved westward along I-95 towards Tallahassee (Cuban) until they eventually died out altogether (Kreider). Although no documented evidence exists to support this claim there are several oral histories available that suggest some typeOf contact between early Spanish explorers and Apalachian Indians took place during this timeperiod (Heinrichsmeyer & Ziegler). The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Citrus County were prospectors working out of Fort Myers Beach on Sarasota Bayou looking for rich oil reserves discovered near Tampa Bay (Ortiz) in 1824. When news reached Fort Myers about this find local settlers band together to try and extract as much Petroleum as possible from what turned out to be an extremely difficult task because deep water lagoons made it very difficult to get your work done safely(Wright). Unfortunately for those trying to make money off this new discovery many members perished while attemptingto venture into these treacherous waters or were captured by Seminole Indian raiders who sold them into slavery back then(Dewey). After weeks of exploration nothing was found but more treasure seekers turned up dead with little success being added onto any potential profits(Moseskamp). This failure only solidified Francisco Peralta’s resolve to explore south Florida thoroughly since he felt confident he could find oil anywhere given enough effort(Lloyd).
