Clermont is a small town in Escambia County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pensacola-Fort Walton Beach–Santa Rosa, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area. Clermont is east of Mobile and west of Tallahassee. The first settlers to Clermont were Frenchmen who came overland from Canada in 1763. They named their community after County on the Rhine River where they lived before moving on to found other villages in Escambia County. In 1819, Captain John Fenton explored the area and called it "Clermont" after his home county of France. He founded a post office here in 1825 and laid out a street system that still exists today including five blocks long by one wide with two streets running north-south and one street running east-west. In 1832, Anna Maria Mclntyre married Captains Isaac Capps and James Mahan at Stroud's Chapel near present day Lithonia Avenue and Umatilla Road (now US 98). They moved to what is now Clermont from Pensacola where they had been living since 1800. There were six children born to them there: four girls (Anna Marias, Sarah Jane Capps, Martha Ann Mahan) and two boys (Isaac John Capps Jr., William Mahan) Apostolic Church was built in 1830 by Father Jacques Morelle as an addition to the original palazzo on Red Bank Road that he had purchased from Captain James Cook for $2,500 when he sailed around Cape Horn in 1779 during his circumnavigation of the world In 1851 future Confederate General Poultney Grant used this church as a headquarters while commandeering supplies from Union General Nathaniel Banks during Operation Crossroads which failed MrsgrdMrsGrd played organ for Grant's troops until captured by Union forces July 1863 As late as 1920 residents still collected money for road maintenance through annual collection days like May Day or July 4thClarmont has always done its share towards keeping our local roads clean & free of litter

Clermont is a small town in Brevard County, Florida, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,717. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The original inhabitants of Clermont were French colonists who arrived in 1775 and named it after their home province of France. The first settlers in Clermont were Frenchman Claude-Jacques Bourgeois and his family who founded a farm on what is now US Highway 431. In 1819 they sold their farm to James Aiken and his wife Sarah Aiken for $8,000. They moved to Clermont from Jacksonville and started a sawmill there that still operates today as the Aiken Saw Mill Company. The first post office was established at Clermont in 1827 under the name of "Jasper". The first church was built in 1850 by Rev. John Gadsden and dedicated to St. Anthony with the following inscription: " erected by divine Providence this day in memory of Mrs James Aiken her husband who died November 10th 1849." In 1865, Drury Cottage (now known as Old Indian Head) was built on land donated by Captain Hernando de Soto y Costilla as part of his field survey of Florida's Everglades National Park while he was exploring America’s southwest coast during the Spanish Inquisition period; it served as headquarters for the Lieutenant Governor’s staff throughout much of De Soto’s trek through South Florida which commenced on October 5th 1539 AD when he anchored off Islamorada Island about 175 miles due west of Havana Bay). On February 14th 1909 Drury Cottage became Clermont’s first post office when “Eagle Pointe” opened at 9am Soon afterwards another station – “Port Royal” –was opened at 11am both providing service along US 431 which ran parallel to then State Road 7 near present day Orangeburg beach before crossing into Brevard County about two miles north east from Eagle Pointe (the present day intersection where SR 7 meets FM 671). - From 1912 until 2001: Chatsworth Village - From 1901 until 1920: Jasper - From 1827 until 1932: Port Royal On July 3rd 1907 residents voted 2-1 to annex unincorporated portions or villages within its borders including Chatsworth Village located just southwest of current day Ormond Beach alongSR 431/US 431A approximately 8 miles northeast from Jasper according to an article published by Sentinel Herald December 12th 1906 page 3 Colfax Avenue thence west nearly to CR 3147 N Street thence southwesterly past CR 3147 E Street across open water aforesaid thence easterly past CR 9148 W Street
