In Clearwater, Florida, the history of guns and targets dates back to 1947. The city was founded by veterans of World War II and was known as the Training and Test Range for the United States Air Force. In that year, a group of men banded together to create Clearwater Arms Company Ltd., which manufactured pistols and rifles for use at local ranges. One of the company’s first products was a target rifle called the “Clearwater Predator.” The Predator had a fiberglass stock and an aluminum barrel that allowed it to reach high velocities. It was used by local gun enthusiasts for practice and competition. The Predator also became very popular with military personnel stationed in Clearwater because it could be towed behind planes or helicopters for target shooting. In 1974, Clearwater Arms Company merged with another company, Southland Rifle & Pistol Corporation, to form Southland-Clearwater Firearms Incorporated (SCLFI). SCLFI continued manufacturing pistols and rifles under its own name until 1988 when it merged with DeSoto Manufacturing Co., Inc., owner of North American Target Armory®, to become DeSoto-Clearwater Firearms Incorporated (DCLFI). DCLFI developed new firearms prototypes under license from Glock Holding AG, one of Germany’s leading firearm manufacturers. Glock quickly gained a reputation for quality firearms products in America but did not enter into production until after DCLFI acquired their patents on November 3rd, 1999. Today, DeSoto-Clearwater Firearms Incorporation produces hunting shotguns along with handguns such as revolvers, semi-automatic pistols, shotguns precision rifles (Ruger® SR9™), muzzleloaders/ammunition carriers/catapults/targets etc.. All firearms are made inhouse using proprietary technology involving among others heat treatment making some weapons nearly impossible to damage even if subjected to extreme circumstances including firing at night or in salt water environments where other metals may corrode

At its peak during World War II, Clearlake had a population of 20,000 people; however, it only produced 2% of all local output because munitions were produced more efficiently in other areas of the county During World War II, Clearlake returned to production by constructing an aluminum plant employing 300 workers; however, this plant closed after just one year due to wartime shortages of aluminum products In 1949Clearlake erected its first skyscraper—the tower which still stands today—named for then-Mayor Harry Pendergast who helped get it built In 1951Pendergast was re-elected Mayor unanimously (the first time this had ever happened) and continued serving until his death aged 84 years old on November 10th 1977 On December 12th 1977 through ordinance number 176-77 City Hall Building became fire safe from smoke generated from engine start up day continuing efforts started many years ago

The first Europeans to set foot on Clearwater were the Portuguese in 1513. The area was explored by Spanish and French explorers in the 16th century, but it was not until the 18th century that any permanent settlements were made. In 1795, a group of American colonists led by Captain John Stroud discovered Clearwater and named it for their leader, James Clearwater. The first white settlement in Clearwater was founded by Captains John Stroud and Edward Yeates in 1824. It was located on an island near present-day Gulfport. The town slowly grew throughout the 19th century as more people arrived to invest in the saltpeter production boom that was taking place on Clearwater Bay. By 1916, Clearwater had a population of over 2,000 people. During World War I, local residents helped raise money for the war effort and contributed goods and services such as labor or weapons. After the war, many businesses closed down due to a lack of business opportunities after the end of World War II. However, thanks to new technology like refrigeration and air conditioning, Clearwater has seen some resurgence over the years as an attractant for businesses looking for a high-tech community with low crime rates
