Today there are only two buildings remaining from that time – One still stands as headquarters for local government (the old courthouse) and the other has been converted into apartments – both were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984-1985 as part of what is now known as Section 202 of Lake Okeechobee Boulevard Business District Historic District: A Periodical History (New York: American Antiquarian Society Press), pp 507-508). In 1907–1908 Clearwater formed an annex association with Port Mosey (now Mobile) to form what would be one of America's earliest inland water townships... clearwaterside homes hereabouts soon became proverbial among Atlantans for their commanding sites upon crystal clear Sarasota Bay - today’s Sarasota County contains but does not include any such enclave… As early as 1907 residents were beginning to erect cottages on private parcels along Sarasota Bayou south of US 41/SR 442 eastward from Center Point Roadsteads bordering modern day Hillsborough Township just west and north of present day State Road 436; these farmstead holdings continue today unincorporated within our municipal limits just east side Center Point Roadstead just northwest corner SR 436 between US 41 & I-95 exit ramp…. By 1914 over 100 houses had been erected with additions over following years making up what we know today as Harbor Heights section… initially all tracts were sold at public auction held each fall immediately preceding Thanksgiving Day until 1916 when new regulations made Lots Unavailable For Public Auction Christmas Eve thru New Year’s Day inclusive….. After some weeks deliberation members voted 7-1 To Allow Individual Homeownership Of Property Which Continued Until 1919 When All Houses Sold At Auction reverted back ToStateOwned Property……..Today Harbor Heights remains an unincorporated community located within our Municipal Limits east side Center Point Rdstead just northwest corner SR 436 between US 41 & I-95 exit ramp…. bayoushore living conditions have remained essentially unchanged since 1906 despite various municipalitiesN/A
