This is especially beneficial if an Assault Rifle has multiple magazines attached which would require different attachments for each magazine layout (e.g., 5 round magazine release on an AKM). A takedown Upper Receiver does not allow this flexibility. Many people argue that having a full-length upper receiver increases potential accuracy because it provides more surface area for ballistics optimization algorithms to work with MAG rounds than does a takedown Lower Receiver armed with just one magazine tube/round groupings at best (i.e., unless you use upgraded parts). It should also be noted that most barrels on Assault Rifles terminate in 8” or 12” lengths so even if you have an 18” barrel, your gun will still shoot 2 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards using standard American Standard rounds!
