The community was founded on an agricultural estate that had been abandoned for years by Mr. Casselman’s family after they sold it to another party in 1892. The new owners renovated the property and began planting crops again in 1895 which led to the name “Casselberry” being given to the small community by its first settlerJules Casselman who purchased Plantation Island from JB Cassellmans heirs in 1893. Today’s CASELBERRY Village was built between 1966 and 1971 as part of an urban renewal project spearheaded by then Mayor Carlos Gimenez during his final term as mayor of Miami-Dade County following passage of legislation known as the “Village Redevelopment Act” (Pt II). At its completion, CASELBERRY Village included 575 housing units with a total market value of $13 million . The development was designed by award-winning architect Ira Glasser who also served as landscape architect for both Parkland Hospital/ Memorial Hermann HospitalMiami Dadeshospitalsand University Medical Centerin downtown Miami .

Casselberry is a small town in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,497 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale-West Palm Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. Casselberry was founded by Englishman John Cassel in 1892 as a citrus farming and trade center on the banks of the Stonington River. A post office was established at Casselberry in 1896, and Growth followed until 1906 when it became unincorporated due to lack of development. The name "Casselberry" came from John Cassels brother's place of birth called "Castleborough." There were other places with similar names throughout southern Florida during this time period including Belleair (now Boynton Beach), Fort Pierce, Vero Beach, Hollywood (then an agricultural township), and Winter Haven; however none had anything to do with Castles Berry Farm or John Cassels plantation. In 1907, George Neely purchased land east of town on what is now Northwest Drive for $2,000 which he used as his citrus farmstead known today as Neely Farms II which still stands today across from Christmastime Village shopping district on US 301/Palm Beach Boulevard south of I-95 just west of cassellberry beach park
