In 1902-1903,Captain JohnCassellbery made an unsuccessful attempt to cross the Panama Canal into Colombia overland from Haverfordwest Junction on Wales Road nearpresent-day Pensacola, FL then traveled all the way upriver to Asuncion where he disembarked at Atocha Bayou (now called Tampa Bay) about 120 miles north of present day Tampa Bay on November 15th 1903 but failed due to illness sustained during his journey which ended up ending his life very suddenly just prior to reaching home after weeks of heavy travel with some health problems that were never completely solved
