Captain Copley's company manufactured both cannonball (shot made from lead) and grapeshot (shot made from iron). Ammunition manufacturing began on a much larger scale in 1839 when Colonel Patrick J. Hennessey established a munitions factory in what is now Casselberry. This factory became known as "Hennessey & Son" and manufactured cannons, mortars, and other artillery munitions until 1861 when it was acquired by the United States Government and merged into the Department of War. Casselberry came into being as an important center for artillery production during World War II because of its proximity to military installations around Tampa Bay and its ability to produce large quantities of ammunition quickly under wartime conditions. After the war, Casselberry continued to experience strongarming activity due to its status as one of the few communities that could provide metal cans filled with high-tensile steel ammo for export overseas without obtaining a license from state gaming commission regulations governing such exports

Casselberry is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,426 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville-St. Petersburg-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. Casselberry is located on State Road 321 and is east of US Highway 92nd parallel (or East 4th Avenue). The first place that Europeans set foot in what is now Casselberry was on December 15, 1763 when Captain James Cook sailed into the area from Tahiti and charted the land which would become Polk County. At that time there were no settlements in what are now Casselberry or other nearby villages. It wasn't until 1834 that a post office called "Casselberry" was established and for many years it served as the only stop on stagecoach Routes 66 and 928 from Jacksonville to Tallahassee. In 1892, a group of men purchased land east of present day Cassellberry and began to build a house known as Bald Hill House which still stands today within sight of Interstate 95 southbound just west of cassellberry High School. This original development included three homes: one with an attached barn, one with a garage/workshop/garage conversion built by local blacksmiths, and finally the large white frame home which served as the nucleus around which all later developments sprung up around it. The Bald Hill House eventually became razed to make way for Interstate 95 but parts remain extant within view of I-95 today including an contributing garage currently used by GFS cable television providers along with several foundations from when Bald Hill House was perched atop its foundation before being demolished in favor of I-95 expansion projects back in 2000! A very important event happened during this early period in Casselberry's history – on October 25th 1907 Jock Mahoney opened his general store at 5604 N Miami Rd after more than 20 years spent running his father's business originally called "Jock's Store". When Jock Mahoney died suddenly in 1908 his son Jack took over operations at his father's store continuing until 1959 when JackMahoney retired due to health problems forever changing how commerce operated hereabouts! One such precursor to modern day shopping malls like Walmart etc., Jock Mahoney’s store had two floors with 148 total square feet inside with nearly everything you could possibly need shelves full! His son continued operation until 1963 when he passed away leaving behind an almost complete inventory including most notably jute sacks filled with groceries bought fresh from local farms just outside town limits!) Today’s Main Street features Hardware & Home Improvement stores such as Lowe’s followed by Safeway (now Kroger) then BJ’s Wholesale Club before reaching its current incarnation stretching all the way down University Drive featuring numerous restaurants including pizza places various fast food chains plus Walt Disney World Resort right next door across University Boulevard! In recent years much attention has been given to resurgence of downtown businesses such as antique shops B&B Cafe doing well both financially & reputation wise while also hosting special events likeLive music every Sunday night starting at 7pm Downtown open late

Casselberry was founded in 1868 by John S. and Jemima A. Casselberry as a small farming community on the edge of present-day Jacksonville. The name came from an early settler's farmstead called "Cassell" which was located about four miles (6 km) east of present-day Casselberry on Mobile Bayou. One of the first businesses in Casselberry was a grocery store operated by J.W. Martin and his brother John Cagle from 1869 to 1870. In 1871, Jules Ahern opened a general store in what is now the southeast corner of Main Street and Herring Lane #2A – this became known as "The Hucklebumps". In 1875, Wm Gorman built a sawmill on Mobile Bayou just north of present-day Casselsberry and began producing lumber for local buildings and furniture production until it closed in 1906 due to economic instability within Hardee County during that time period. The first school inCasselberry was established in 1876 when Mrs[?] Rankin organized a Female Seminary with three students from nearby Jacksonville to teach young ladies spinning wheel taught by Miss Jane Chandler Smith; later renamed Middlebury Female Seminary because it moved to that location in 1886). After serving as its principal until 1903, Mrs Rankin donated her assets including fourteen acres (60 m²) of land near the center of town to establish what would become Stonington Elementary School which served grades K-5 until 1977 when it merged with nearby Holmes Middle School into one large school district named after Mrs Rankin - Stonington Elementary School District No.: 4th Grade through 8th Grade remains today as part of North Central Schools Corporation under Miami Dade Schools superintendent Dr.[?]. In 1905, two years before statehood granted municipalities such power over their own education policies,Mrs Rankin donated another fifteen acres (60 m²) northeastward along Herring Lane towards Pritchett Road for use as future high school which would become Auburn High School located adjacent today's University Park Shopping Center across I-95 from where Classmates took morning commuter buses back then for postsecondary education: James Meeks Hall; since demolished replaced by modern day Hyatt Place hotel across BB&T Arena parking lot! On October 26, 1907 FentonMcCormick & Co., merchants who had been located at 350 East Broadwalk since 1865 selling goods such as flour products hardware insurance etc., relocated their business premises at 411 West Broadway opposite current day Fry’s BBQ restaurant - they were followed soon thereafter by The Beaumont Store at 421 West Broadway also known then or presently as “Beaumont” clothing store - both stores moved out onto Main Street soon afterwards becoming storefronts occupied primarily by Mr & Mrs [Name] Cook who operated them together until 1915 when Cook's son Harry purchased their interest and continued operations alone until 1951 when he sold them too and converted them into an apartment building currently occupying that site! On February 3rd 1916 Hurricane Matthew destroyed all but one wall off south side street frontage resulting loss/damage totaling $1800 per house likely New York Citydestructive earthquake resultant destruction estimated between $4000-$6000 per structure caused especially damage to eastern end front private road leading up driveway entrance also garage & several outbuildings..... On December 9th 1926 FentonMcCormick &Co.'s successor company Jardine Drugstore Incorporated relocated their business premises at 411 West Broadway opposite current day Fry’s BBQ restaurant becoming again “Jardine Drugstore Incorporated” with new headquarters built therefrom including special purpose room utilized exclusively for storage purposes prior to being turned over to North Central Schools Corporation under Miami Dade Superintendent Dr.[?]; still extant today within brick exterior Walls facing Old State Capitol Building driveway!!! As more businesses arrived starting around 1920 various other names were given such as: Johnson Hardware Store 1922-1924; American Lumber Co 1924-1927; McCulloch Implement Sales Company 1927-1929; Ziegler Hardware 1929-. . . till 1954 whenbecame simply "Casselberry Hardware Company" effective May 1st 1954 thru Oct 31st 1955!!!
