The company donated targets to the town of Cape Canaveral for use by local shooters. Target Corporation eventually became part of American Mfg., Inc., which is now a subsidiary of Smith & Wesson Firearms LLC. In 1984, American Mfg. merged with National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), which then became the governing body for shooting sports in America. NSSF continues to provide training and support for members across all fifty states and Washington, D.C.

In 1984, the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station was sold to The Lockheed Martin Corporation and became known as LockheedMartin Space Center. Cape Canaveral is a small town in Brevard County, Florida, United States. It is the home of Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and the launch sites for many space launches. The first launch from Cape Canaveral was by an American satellite on July 20, 1969. The town was founded in 1914 by German colonists who arrived on horseback. In 1916, they erected a small post office and built a store and livery stable. That same year they organized their first school system with twelve students in grades one through six. The first teacher was Mrs. Sarah Kimmelman. By 1923, there were twenty-four residents in Cape Canaveral; eleven of these lived on the original site of Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (now part of NASA's Johnson Space Center). In 1957, the U.S.-Soviet Union Cold War standoff ended with Eisenhower's inauguration as president and opening of the Berlin Wall; this led to increased military tensions across the world and South Florida became one of those areas at risk for conflict or attack from either side. On October 16th, 1961 two American ballistic missiles called Jupiter I and II were launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station into orbit after being developed at Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). These missiles represented a major escalation in U S - Soviet nuclear weapons competition that would climax with Cuban missile crisis that November day On September 17th 1965 another American ballistic missile called Saturn 1 was launched into orbit after being developed at APL; it also represented an escalation in U S - Soviet nuclear weapons competition that would culminate with Apollo 11 moon landing seven months later In 1970s more than $2 billion worth of contracts were awarded to local businesses to build infrastructure such as roads, schools, hospitals and shopping malls around Orlando area including Jacksonville Beach & Titusville Cape Canaveral AFB closed its doors effective January 1st 2005 when it merged with Eglin AFB to become Lockheed Martin’s Vandenberg AFB . As part of this merger both bases will be known as "Lockheed Martin Vandenberg" until eventually they are divorced again under new name arrangements which we cannot divulge at this time
