The city also saw heavy bombing activity during World War II (1939-45). After the war ended, many businesses closed down due to lack of demand from consumers or because OFM began rationing gasoline which was then used as propaganda to discourage Buying cars Many jobs that once supported thousands were lost such as manufacturing plants that produced tractors or aircraft parts; these plants were later replaced by service companies engaged in providing goods and services such as lawn care, plumbing services, home improvement work etcetera Today there are few if any traces left behind from those days when Bradenton boasted one of America's most vibrant industrial cities In order to commemorate all that has happened here since 1906 we have created this website which tells our story from beginning to end
