Bradenton, Florida is a town in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 12,651 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The incorporated municipality had a total population of 18,914 as of 2000. The first Europeans to visit Bradenton were Spanish missionaries in 1795. The town was founded by Elisha Dickson in 1824 and named for him after his home state of Virginia. A post office called Dicksonville was established in 1827 and remained in operation until 1907. In 1840, John Sledge purchased land near the intersection of US Highway 1 and State Road 9 and started construction on what would become Sledge's Marina which became one of the largest amusement park complexes ever built up until that time. Starting in 1862, George Peake developed an area known as "Peake Park" east of downtown with several wells, farms and homes used for housing and work during that time period On December 6th 1870 Father Damien Michelet arrived at Fort Myers with 16 followers to start a Catholic mission on Santa Clara Island which would eventually grow into St. Joseph's Catholic Church (now known as Good Shepherd Cathedral) across from present day mouths Peake Boulevard/First Gulf Boulevard on Miami Beach Boulevard south side just north of Veterans Parkway In 1886 he donated 2 acres (10 ha) to establish a new Parish Hall with School for Boys also located there now . Father Michelet gave $4 per acre ($ each) towards this purchase so if you walk today along Old Dickson Rd it follows his donation exactly! It should be noted that not all Saints properties were given away like this – another example is Presentation Convent (built between 1907-1915), which still stands today unoccupied but has been converted into apartments The parish hall building served as both church at first and school until 1954 when Bishop Edward J Hickey moved the school to Miracle Mile Drive west side making way for an even larger hospital complex soon to be built adjacent including modern day hospitals such as Lighthouse Point Hospital Today Feastday: September 8th Holy Cross Chapel will reopen within weeks after extensive renovation! In 1916 they opened their own soda fountain called 'Dixon Fountain' next door to where Red Lobster now operates

Bradenton, Florida is a city in the state ofFlorida and is located on the Gulf Coast of Tampa Bay. A major thoroughfare through the city is Anna Maria Boulevard which runs along the waterfront. The first Europeans to set foot in Bradenton were Spanish colonists who arrived in 1565. The area that now includes Bradenton was part of Indian Territory until 1821 when it became part of Florida. The first white settler was John Crain who established a sugar plantation near what is now downtown Bradenton. In 1835, Captain David Isbell built Fort Myers on current-day US-1 and named it for his father, David Isbell Sr., who had been Governor of Florida from 1824 to 1830 and then U.S. Ambassador to Spain from 1830 to 1833. In 1840, violence broke out between settlers and Seminole Indians in nearby Pinellas County over land grants; this led to American military forces being called in by Governor Andrew Jackson to quell the conflict. In 1861, Confederate General Jubal Early invaded Florida while attacking Union forces at Gaines Mill; soon afterward, Confederate President Jefferson Davis issued an Executive Order enabling martial law to be declared in all of South Carolina following Early's invasion there as well. When Union General George Armstrong Custer discovered this order he ordered his men not to fire upon retreating Confederate troops despite orders from Major General Robert Ewell; this resulted in Confederates surrendering at Fallen Timbers National Cemetery without having made any headway against their enemies since they had no artillery or cavalry available other than some light infantry units under Lieutenant Colonel Edward Sweeny (Note: This event has been immortalized by actor Clint Eastwood portraying General George Armstrong Custer). Aftermath of the battle saw more than 200 officers killed including most high ranking officers within Union Command with around 150 casualties for Confederate forces numbering about 4500 personnel making it one of heaviest defeats ever given against Ulysses S Grant's army during the Civil War up until that point Bradenton experienced rapid growth due largely to its location at the mouth of Tampa Bay where shipping activities occurred and various industries developed such as shipbuilding, fishing, tugboat building and aviation services during World War II period The population increased rapidly with tens of thousands coming ashore each week during wartime as sailors brought food rations ashore for soldiers on Iwo Jima In 1948 Interstate 75 was completed connecting Tampa with Jacksonville making it easier for people moving around Southwest Florida The City Council adopted a resolution stating "It will be our hope that by cooperating wholeheartedly with local government we can make our community into one which provides essential services without burden or favoritism." On November 14th 1951 Mayor Hugh Carey proclaimed September 12th-15th 50 years anniversary celebration for incorporation into cityhood mayor Carey stated "We should remember how much effort went into getting us here - 60 years ago today we got incorporated." On October 5th 1978 voters passed Initiative 10 requiring verification before giving anyone access to public records even if they are registered voters The City Manager later ruled that citizens may petition City Hall but only after verifying their eligibility
Bradenton was founded by the Bradenton Indians in 1794. It later became a used-car dealership and then a manufacturing center for automobiles. In 1916, it became the first city in Florida to have electric streetlights.
