American National Corporation made changes to the manufacturing process and began producing gun swivels in Europe instead of in the United States. In 1973, American National Corporation merged with British-based Leyland Motors Limited. Leyland Motors Limited produced and marketedgunswives throughout much of Continental Europe until it went private in 1987.
Boynton Beach is a small town in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. Boynton Beach is located on both sides of the Intracoastal Waterway and includes much of the former unincorporated community of Harbour Island. The first humans to inhabit Boynton Beach were Native American traders and travelers from South America who passed through the region on their way to Havana or Mexico City in the 16th century. A group led by Captain John Smith arrived in 1764 and named it "New Smyrna" after one of their ships which had sunk off Longboat Key due to weather conditions at that time. During World War II, naval personnel stationed here helped fuel amphibious landings on Biscayne Bay as part of Operation Neptune's Spear. Japanese forces destroyed much coastal infrastructure during this engagement, including some bridges over Intracoastal Waterway; however, Fort Myers reinforced these crossings and prevented any damage to mainland beaches beyond those along Biscayne Bay. In 1947, Boynton Beach voters approved a referendum authorizing annexation by Palm Beach County; this event became known as "The annexation". In 1957, Boynton Boulevard (now called Ocean Drive) was created as part of a shift in traffic patterns resulting from Interstate 95 construction just north of town center; that same year saw its first car show with entries coming from all over southern Florida including Hollywood and West Palm Beach. On July 1, 1959 – less than two years after annexation – Boynton Beaches incorporated as a city under then- Mayor Harry Prysler Sr.'s leadership with an objective to provide more services for residents such as fire protection and health care opportunities for those living within city limits only (then limited to east side streets between US-1/US-4). On January 1, 1962 – three years after incorporation – citizens voted 3-2 to name their new city "Boynton Beach." He bought some land, built himself a house, and began to build his community which would later become known as Boynton Beach. Many businesses were established in early days including hotels, restaurants, grocery stores, Masonic lodges (the first lodge in Florida), post office, bank - all while still being able to enjoy easy access to everything that Fort Pierce had to offer! In 1914, General Electric opened their plant here which helped give rise to today’s electronics industry withinBoynton Beach! Today many famous companies have their headquarters or manufacturing plants here including Samsung Electronics America LLP., IBM Corporation (once part of Tandy), Dell Technologies Inc., Comcast NBCUniversal Cable Communications LLC., Pfizer Inc., Toshiba Corporation (now Panasonic) – just to name a few! In recent years there have been several efforts made by local officialsto maintain/enhance cultural amenities withinBoynton Beach such as developing new parks/sports fields/cemetery etc…. There are now numerous nightlife venues along with various shops and restaurants providing residents with everything they need during those busy holiday seasons! Despite these challenges (some very real ones!), Boynton Beach continues to thrive thanks mainly to itsResidents who continue coming together for fun activities & film screenings throughout the year; events like Christmas Tree lighting ceremonies & New Year's Eve fireworks displays!!
Boynton Beach, Florida was founded on August 24, 1947 by the Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce and Development. The city was named after Admiral William H. Boynton who served as Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet from 1945 to 1948.
