Boynton Beach is located on the shore of Biscayne Bay and its slogan "The quiet city" comes from its being one of the few areas in Miami-Dade County without a singleurbant noise level over 50 dB. The area that would become Boynton Beach was first settled by Cuban refugees who brought their crops and herds of cattle to this part of South Florida during the early 1900s. They also built homes and businesses here, including the original Boynton Beach Hotel which still stands today. After World War II, many people moved to this area because it became an attractive retirement spot for those who had served in The Military or were Separate Technicians or Scientists working at local military bases such as Pinellas Key Naval Station and Homestead Air Force Base (Airmen). The name 'Boynton' came from one of these businesses which advertised its services near Fort Myers beach - now known as Palm Island – where residents could take a dip before continuing their day's work. In 1957, A&P Supermarket opened its first store in what would be known as today's location of Boynton Boulevard and Third Street SW. This business would become a major player in town until it closed down in 1997 after years of steady growth thanks to its large location and great customer service. In 1980, another big store opening took place when Pabst Blue Ribbonopened up shop next door to US Steel Corporation on Northwest Fourth Avenue SW just south of Interstate 95/State Road 706E (now called I-95/State Road 527E). This chain would continue to grow until it merged with PepsiCo in 2007 giving birth to modern day PepsiCo USA Inc., headquartered downtown in Coral Gables! Today there are more than 100 stores across 16 countries across three continents! Some popular brands that have made their mark here include Subway sandwich shops, Dunkin' Donuts coffee franchises (especially around Nokomis Parkway), Miller Lite beer breweries (including two within walking distance of each other!), Coca ColaCola restaurants (which operate several pumps inside giant Coke bottle shaped bottling plants), Snickers bars (!), Applebees restaurants (!), KFC restaurants (!), Chick-fil-a restaurant locations (%d) along with dozens more retailers throughout town! It doesn't stop there though - many new businesses have come online recently like Live Action Video Game Consoles LLC & GameStopInc., which opened up shop just east off Third Street SW opposite Broward county courthouse; Jocelyn Fabrication & Apparel Inc., which opened up shop on Northwest Fourth Avenue SW just south of I-95; Piperlime Fitness Ltd., which has been open since 2017 right next door to US Steel Corporation on Northwest Fourth AvenueSW opposite Broward county courthouse; Southern Leyland Services Llc., which has been open since 2018 adjacent to Pabst Blue Ribbon restaurant on Northwest fourth avenue sw between I-95 & State road 706e

In 1948, the U.S. military moved to Fort Myers and Fort Walton Beach became the new military base for the United States Military Academy at West Point. The town started to decline as more businesses closed and people left for better opportunities in other parts of Florida or New York City. However, some residents decided to stay in Boynton Beach because of its climates, culture, and attractions such as Dolphin Key State Park, which is known for its white-sand beaches andhistoric lighthouse. In 2007, Boynton Beach won a $25 million dollar grant from the Department of Transportation to help redevelop areas near South Lee Avenue and 31st Street into mixed-use neighborhoods with commercial space on one hand and homes on the other side with access to parks, golf courses, shopping malls, restaurants, etc.. The redevelopment will create over 1 thousand jobs throughoutBoyntonBeachLibraries system which is expected to bring new life to many abandoned blocks adjacent to South Lee Ave.,31stStreetandthe harbor district
Boynton Beach was founded by developers in 1925. The town is named after Commodore George Boynton, a naval officer who served in the Spanish-American War and later became a landowner in the area. The first post office was opened in 1926. In 1947, Boynton Beach incorporated as a town and adopted its present name.
