The Hickey Gun Flashlight quickly became popular among workers in the citrus industry, and it is still used today by some farmers and other outdoor enthusiasts in Florida.

Bonita Springs, Florida is a city in Sarasota County, Florida, United States. The population was 41,609 at the 2010 census. The Bonita Springs Chamber of Commerce and Industry has estimated that the city will have a population of 508,000 by 2020. The name "Bonita Springs" comes from Spanish meaning "beautiful springs." The first settlers in this area were Spanish people who were looking for a place to settle after being driven out of Cuba by the British. They named their new town San Marcos de la Cueva because they thought it would be beautiful to see. In 1878, General James W. Cooke arrived in this area with his army and built Fort Myers on what is now Interstate 75. He called the settlement "Fort Myers Beach" because he thought it would be an attractive place for people to gather water supplies and trade goods with the Indians around him. After sugarcane became available in America during the 1800s, Bonita Springs started becoming known as a center for sugar production. By 1916, it had become one of America's leading sugar towns due to its location at the intersection of U.S.-1 and State Road 706 (now I-75). At that time, there were over 400 plantations located in Bonita Springs alone! Today much of what makes up today's downtown core was developed during World War II when many factories moved into this area due to shortages elsewhere in America caused by World War II efforts!
