After World War II ended, many people left to find new opportunities in either south Florida or California; however some kept their homes here including Mrs. Raymond Hitchcock (founder of Hitchcock Productions) who moved into her original house which still stands today on Rosary Drive across from Plantation Country Club golf course after her husband's death in 1957. After years of planning by city fathers and developers working with Mayor David Moseley (now deceased), Boca Raton had its first city commission meeting on January 11th 1974 when citizens passed an ordinance setting forth zoning regulations for the town center area bounded by US 1 freeway to the north, Flagler Avenue to the east, Dolphin Drive to the south and West Ocean Boulevard to the west which would include much of downtown including future City Hall and all but one block between Flagler Avenue and I-95E/US 1 freeway - all within walking distance for most residents! This New Town Center regulation applied only to newly constructed commercial buildings not existing at this time such as old churches or farmhouses which were rezoned Residential until they were replaced with modern structures following annexation by neighboring towns during later eras! By 1978 over 60% of all new businesses had been established within one mile radius of downtown proper making it one of America's fastest growing cities! As more people started moving into central Boca Raton they began looking for places to retire Lord knows why but couldn't find anything that met their needs so instead started shopping around for other communities with similar demographics like Hillsborough County did back when everyone wanted Fort Myers beachfront property because that's where they lived! Eventually developers simply came up with another name for what we have now called Downtown Boca: Pompousville although some say that name should be given back to our original founders who really created this place - let them have their own moniker once again! lol kidding sorry about that... In 1835, Captain John Sutter established an fur trading post at Sugarloaf Key which became known as Sutter's Station. In 1840, Edwin Mixon purchased 5 acres (20 hectares) of land near Boca Raton for $1 per acre (0.50 km²). Mixon renamed his tract "Mixon's Prairie" after himself and built a home there that still stands today. That year too saw significant growth when sugarcane was discovered in Southwest Florida and plantations were established throughout what are now Broward County and Palm Beach County around this time including one by Andrew Mellon called "Mallory Plantation". In 1861 Colonel James Longstreet's brigade marched into Tampa Bay on its way to help fight Confederate forces during the American Civil War; General Longstreet's Brigade Headquarters camped about two miles northeast of where Boca Raton now sits on US-224 just west of SR 620/Old US-224 Business Loop Road (now Interstate 95). Aftermath: The remains of Col James Longstreet’s Brigade Headquarters can be seen today adjacent to Woldenberg Drive near milepost 22 on I-95 exit 322A ([US]SR 620/Old US-224 Business Loop Road), just south of milepost 26 on SR 620/Old US-224 Business Loop Road ([US]I-95 exit 322A), ½ mile northwest of intersection with Ellington Parkway (formerly CR 7014), just northwest cornerof Ellington Parkway & CR 7015[/url], & ¾ mile southeast cornerof Ellington Parkway & CR 7016 [/url]. In 1865 Isaac Putnam bought 1 acre (3 hectares) northeast cornerof Old US- 224 Business Loop Rd & SR620/ Old US - 224 Business Loop Rd for $2 per acre (.75 km²). Putnam named his tract "Putnam Park." It remained unoccupied until 1903 when it was acquired by Harry Payne Whitney Jr., then owner – then manager – Of Sun Belt Life Insurance Company Building Corporation HQ building at 410 SW 20th Ave #102 Miami FL 33139 [email protected] During World War II many businesses closed down due to wartime shortages but some such as Chilton Hauling continued business until 1951 when they moved out because they couldn't get government contracts because they were 1942 compliant .
