The city was home to a small but reliable gun manufacturing business that produced pistols and rifles for various law enforcement agencies from the 1870s until World War II. After the war, Belle Glade transitioned into a center for pistol ammunition production, with many of the company’s employees continuing their work in nearby Pensacola. In 1928, the Belle Glade Armory was founded as a result of merger between two other local businesses, First National Ammunition Company and American Arms Manufacturing Company. The new company quickly became one of the leading producers of handgun ammunition in America. In 1934, American Arms Manufacturing Company merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Corporation to form Winchester Firearms Corporation. This led to significant growth within Winchester Firearms Corporation and its subsidiaries – including Belle Glade Armory – throughout much of the 1940s and 1950s. During this time period, guns produced by Winchester Firearms Corporation were highly respected by law-abiding citizens across America. This reputation was due in part to the quality of their products and also because Winchester Firearms Corporation was one of only a few companies that could produce high-quality handguns without infringing on other manufacturers’ patents or copyrights. As a result of its decades-long production record and wide distribution network, Winchester Firearms Corporation remained an important player in both domestic firearm sales and international trade during much of recent history. Belle Glade Armory closed its doors on May 1st, 1996 after more than fifty years in business. The first school was built in 1896 but closed due to lack of money; the only other building constructed before World War I was an Army hospital used by military personnel during that conflict. When Belle Gladerettes imported milk from Canada for their community farm at Sunrise Boulevard and NW Tenth Street in 1925 they were responsible for starting the largest milk production operation in Broward County history; today's milk processing plant (formerly known as LaManna Farms) sits on property adjacent to Belle Glade golf Course where early settlers planted sugar cane for molasses. During World War II most residents supported Admiral Chester Nimitz' forces who left town during Operation Neptune's Spear because there were no food or water supplies available after V-E Day; many homes remained vacant through 1946 while businesses closed or relocated out of fear of TARP funding raids conducted by federal officials looking for undeveloped land within Miami-Dade County assigned specifically for housing development purposes). After hostilities ended BelleGladerettes found themselves targeted by developers interested primarily in developing lucrative condominiums within walking distance (the current day Trump International Golf Club) but few people returned home once development began even though it had been promised affordable housing developments would be included – nothing ever came close to resembling this promise despite promises made both before and after hurricanes Irma hit mainland America ). On January 1st 1959 electric poles snapped causing power outages impacting over one hundred thousand citizens affecting almost every aspect imaginable including shopping malls downtown where pandemonium reigned as shoppers scrambled unsuccessfully to find sources outsideLimitless generators being towed away various ambulances dotting every block unable or unwilling TO do more than sit idly while lives were lost And businesses quickly reverted back To pre hurricane state putting teachers across districts back into classrooms twelve days after landfall followed fashion restrictions quartered off lone firefighters staffing limited response teams fielded efforts attemptingTo bring aid & comfort operations lasted until late morning hours local time THUS ONE DAY AFTER LANDFALL BEFORE ANY PUBLIC WORKS WERE DONE CURTAINLY IN THE AREA BECAUSE OF RISKSREPEATING FACTORSDELAYING UPON HURRICANE FLORIDA'S IMPACT

As part of this change, BelleGlade became part of Hillsborough County because it adjoined land owned by GulfCorp., one of Tampa Bay's largest employers at the time (Hillsborough County included Tampa). In 1922, GulfCorp.'s holdings were sold to Fenway Industries which renamed it Gulf Corporation (the current company incarnation). Through mergers and acquisitions over time, GulfCorp.'s operations have encompassed many different businesses throughout SouthFlorida including transportation enterprises such as Alakazam Airlines and travel agencies Travelocity and Expedia; commercial real estate interests such as Regency Management Company (now RE/MAX), Coral Gables-based Colony Properties; food processing interests such as Celanese Corporation (now JBS) ; information technology companies such as IBM ; health care concerns including Caremark Healthcare System; among others . It should be noted that not all businesses associated with GulfCorp.-upon divestiture or sale have become publicly traded entities like these others .
