Today, Firearms Manufacturing Company produces firearms for a variety of customers including law enforcement and military alike. Firearms Manufacturing Company began production of rifles and pistols in 1892. It was not until 1916 that the company produced its first handgun, the Army Model 1911A1 pistol. The company continued to produce handguns until 1949 when it switched to rifles and shotguns. The Firearms Manufacturing Company became part of Dick Smith & Co., Incorporated on February 15, 1954. In 1957, Dick Smith & Co., Incorporated merged with Roper Corporation, which in turn merged with Colt Industries, Incorporated on January 1, 1959 to form Colt-Dick Smith Corporation (CDP). With this merger came a new line of firearms called the Colt-Arms Division which manufactured guns under three different brand names: Simms Arms Corporation (SAW), American Classic Arms Corporation (ACA), and Premier Firearms Corporation(PFC). In 1984, DPMS was acquired by Beretta USA, LLC who then sold it back to Colt-Dick Smith Corp on October 30th of that year. This sale marks the beginning of an era where DPMS would be completely owned by Beretta USA LLC with no independent manufacturing capabilities remaining within DPMS itself!

The name "Auburndale" was given by one of these traders, Alonso de la Vega y Luna, when he discovered an inhabited site on the banks of the Osceola River some miles southwest of present day Auburndale. La Vega soon developed plantations there and named his new land after himself, Auburnda (meaning "a field full of corn"). By 1697 Sir John Stirling had purchased extensive acreage in what are now central and southern Auburndale from Alonso de la Vega for £1,000 sterling; during his tenure as Governor of what is now Haiti he built a fort at nearby San Juan Capistrano (now Santo Domingo) to protect Spanish interests in that colony against French incursions during the Haitian War for Independence (1794-1804). In 1794 James Kapp founded Kapp's Floridian Hotel near where US 1 crosses the Osceola River into central Auburndale; this became one of America's earliest tourist destinations and remains an important commercial center today. In 1809 Daniel Webster leased from James Kapp 5 acres within modern day central Auburndale for $100 per year - this evolved into present day Webster Park which includes much of downtown Miami. In 1827 AIG merged with Bankers Trust Company to form Jardine & Watt Ltd., later renamed Citigroup Inc.; Jardine & Watt Enterprising Company was chartered to develop real estate interests throughout South Florida; among its first projects was the purchase and development of what are now downtown Miami Beach and Sunnyside Heights east of Broward Boulevard – both areas have since become world famous tourist destinations known collectively as American South Beach/Sunnyside Heights! In 1907 developer Harry Kendall set out to build a large shopping mall on 4 acres adjacent to present day Lake Worth Avenue NW; but due to strong opposition from residents who saw it as an invasion upon their community's rural character, Kendall abandoned plans in 1909 and moved his development further away from downtownMiami towards PembrokePines – eventually becoming one of America's most successful small business entrepreneurs! It wasn't until 1970 that developers Willoughby Bredesen & Sons began working on developing what would become DowntownMiami - they chose Auburb
Auburndale was founded in 1838 by J.H. Auburndale, who named it in honor of his father John H. Auburndale, the first white settler in that area. The town grew rapidly during the 1840s and 1850s, with a population of around 100 people. It became an important center for cotton production and commerce, and also served as a stop on the Underground Railroad. In 1856, Auburndale incorporated as a city, and continued to grow until its incorporation into the state of Florida in 1907.
