The history of bipods can be traced back to the early days of Auburndale, Florida. In 1876, a man by the name of George W. Smith discovered a natural resources reserve in the area and began developing it into a small town. He named his new town after himself, George Washington Smithtown. The first residents of George Washington Smithtown were farming families who lived on their allotments in rural areas. However, when Smithtown grew larger and developed more infrastructure such as a school and post office, they started trading with nearby towns and villages. By 1907, there were over 100 people living in George Washington Smithtown. In 1919, Auburndale was incorporated as a borough within Jacksonville County and became home to many businesses including clothing stores, grocery stores, auto dealerships, banks and other institutions. However, during World War II most of these businesses closed due to the shortage of manpower in Jacksonville County during wartime time periods. As a result of this lack of business opportunity Borough President John Cavanaugh decided to develop an amusement park called "Auburndale Park". The park was built on land that had been acquired from theables family for $1 per acre fee years earlier. The park opened up in 1927 and quickly became one of Jacksonville's top tourist attractions; drawing people from all over Florida for summer vacations or winter weekends away from their homes. Auburndale is located on State Road 585 west of Jacksonville and east of Orlando. The first Europeans to reach what is now Auburndale were Spanish Pilgrims who landed there in 1565 on their way to Santiago de Cuba. In 1778 Lieutenant Colonel James Wilkinson established the first British post in North America at that site. The town was named for General George Washington's stepfather, James Auburndale (1724-1810). A large cotton plantation called "Auburn" was developed here by John Wesley and his son John Wesley Jr.. In 1819 a local militia organization was organized as the Second Seminole War effort against Seminole raids into East Florida began; this expedition resulted in the Battle of Apalachicola Bay which enraged American settlers and led to their relocation to central Florida where they founded Fort Union in 1821. In 1828 Jacksonville became an incorporated city with jurisdiction over all of Polk County; however, Auburndale continued to be designated as its seat until 1869 when it became part of Jacksonville proper. In 1902 Jacksonville annexed much of Polk County including Auburndale making it one municipality with a population exceeding 100,000 people within its limits alone. On November 8th 1906 Bubba Linton opened the world's first general store in what is now known as Jubilee Square Shopping Center off US Highway 441 across from Jax Air Force Base just south of I-5 exit 404B – this store remains open today as Jax Outlets mall! The community reached its peak during World War II with more than 100 businesses operating out of Jubilee Square Shopping Center employing up to 2,500 individuals648; however following the war’s end many businesses closed down or moved away due to changing economic times and competition from other malls throughout Northeast Florida Following Hurricane Janet in October 2004 much damage occurred along US 41W from Auburndale through Sanford northward near Plantation Pointe before turning northwest towards Jupiter cutoff Rd which leads into Indian River County .During early morning hours on October 14th 2005 severe storms devastated parts southwest and northwestofJupiter cutoff Rd & northern edgeof Indian River Coosa FSRP causing extensive damage including tree limbs snapped power lines knocked out streetlights downed trees shear roofs off homes pulled down power poles blew out lights transformers blown out telephone exchanges destroyed water towers flattened residences demolished some bridges collapsed remainder affected by high winds & flooding lasting thru late afternoonOctober 14th2005
