On October 6th, 1903, Deputy Sheriff George Hagerty arrived onscene after hearing shots fired in the area of State Road 507 west of town. One man had been shot several times and was bleeding profusely from his chest; he was identified as Edwin Gardiner Jr., age 25 years old of Atlantic Beach On July 12th, 1907, Deputy Sheriff George Hagerty arrived onscene after hearing shots being fired outside of Lighthouse Point Inn which was located just east of town limits at mile marker 9½
