Apopka, Florida is a small town in Brevard County, Florida. The population was 2,609 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Miami metropolitan area. As Mexican rule progressed, so too did trade between American colonists and Mexicans on both sides of the border increase; consequently, many Native American artifacts such as pottery and weapons were brought over into America by traders. This period saw an influx of English speakers who also immigrated during this time frame as well; many worked at various stores along Santa Fe Trail which connected San Francisco with Mexico City through Texas. In 1841-42 when war broke out between America and Spain over Texas annexation (a move made by President James K Polk), approximately 2200 natives died due to conflict within their own communitiesXXXXXX XXXXxx . This particular event forms part of Florida's statewide embarrassment known as The Mexican War (1846-1848).
