On December 15th 1960 it was accepted and incorporation into the city limits of Orlando occurred effective January 1st 1961 with a population increase from 1,792 to 3,145 people within five years! In 1984 Apopka voters passed a ballot measure authorizing annexation into Kissimmee by referendum and on November 30th 1984 it became official; residents voted 2-1 to approve annexation into Kissimmee!
