In 1851, Henson sold his land to George Walton who started farming there. In 1865, William Hatton bought some land east of town and started to farm it. He called his land “Hatton’s Land”. In 1889, Wm Tilton bought some more farmland east of town and started to farm it also. He called his land “Tilton’sLand”. In 1921, Harry Wooten purchased some more farmland east of town and started to farm it also. He called his land “Wooten's Land”. In 1934, Jock Mahoney acquired some additional farmland east of town and began to farm it as well . He called his land “Mahoney's Land” . In 1951, Jack Mahoney passed away but left behind an estate that included portions of what is now known as Apopka Firearms Plant Incorporated (AFPI). AFPI was founded by Jack Mahoney's son-in-law Dennis McNamara in 1955 as part of efforts to keep handguns manufacturing in Florida after World War II ended; however this company failed within few years due primarily to lack of financial resources among its owners/founders/managers combined with increasing competition from imports into the state caused by rising crime rates inFlorida at that time

Apopka is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,525 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Apopka were Captains John and James Butler who arrived on horseback from Kentucky in 1821. They built a log cabin on the edge of what is now the town square and named it "Butler's Landing." A post office was established in 1827, but no one lived there until 1868 when Daniel Prentice moved to Apopka and started to grow vegetables and raise chickens. In 1886, he built a house on State Road 10 which still stands today as the old Apopka Post Office Building. In 1911, Apopka became an incorporated village with a three-member board of trustees. The first mayor was Wm. Henson who served for two terms from 1916 to 1918. The second mayor was Ira Ellington who served from 1928 to 1930 and again from 1942 to 1944; he was also the Town Clerk during that time period In 1951, Apopka became part of Polk County when it was created by state law following annexation of most of Seminole County by Florida Apopka has had its share of sorrows as well as happiness through its history
