These devices consisted of a hand-held lantern with an attached microphone and/or speaker that could be set up as a rifle scope mount according to user preferences In 1907, Edwin Jarvis patented his own gaslight design which became known as the Jarvis Gun Light. This lamp had two lenses that converged on an axis so that shots fired through them could be seen clearly even when aimed down range. The Jarvis Gun Light was later replaced by more Gasolinegun-like designs starting around World War II due to its low cost and easy adaptation potential with various firearms including shotguns, rifles, pistols, revolvers, carbines etc

Apopka, Florida is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,717 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford metropolitan area. Apopka was founded by Captain James Cook on November 30, 1778 as "Apopka". The name probably comes from an Indian word meaning place where the water flows easily and abundantly. On December 3, 1778, Captain Cook named the settlement after Prince Apopka (or Augustus), son of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland. Captain Cook had been exploring this area since he arrived in Florida on October 14th, 1784 when he sighted what he thought were two islands off the coast of Pensacola Bay. He sailed his ships up to them and found they were three small pieces of land connected by a channel that ran between them. They were named "Estero", "Island No 7" and "Pensacola". The first permanent residents in Apopka were Englishmen sir John Hawkins and Mr Richard Morris who arrived in a ship called Discovery on January 8th, 1814. They built a cabin near present day intersection of US-27/SR-178/US 26 east of town and named it Hawkins Cabin or Old Fortifications Block for their services during that time period. A post office was established at Hawkins Cabin on February 5th 1814 by Petty Officer Edward Bowen with the name apopkafloatpost Office until it was renamed to its current name on October 9th 1840 by Jno Wm Purdy with same lettering due to objections from Captained David Thompson who said it should be called Fort Morgan after His Royal Highness Prince Maurice which had been moved from Stonington Harbor to Pensacola Bay 2 years earlier because there was no fortification thereabouts! The first store opened at apopkafloatstore@aol dot com on November 10th 1840 selling goods bought at local merchants along US 27/SR 178/US 26 just south of present day apopkafloataddress! In 1844 Thomas Edison came to Jacksonville via MobileBay trading vessel USS Constitution under Authority granted him by President James K Polk while visiting Navy Yard MobileBay as part of military campaign against Seminole Indians led by General Andrew Jackson including Apache Chief Manuel de la Garza alias “Chee Chee” otherwise known as Major John Conejo operated out of Ybor City Tampa Bay Territory key into Cuba providing support for Republic Of Texas forces engaged against American Forces during Mexican American War! Edison invented Gassmann Electric Light Bulb developed here also making this town one stoplight early central FL lighting region! This made Apopka very important early SouthernFlorida center for electrical commerce!! Ten years later Apopka became one station on First Coast Line Railroad main line extending all the way from Jacksonville to Tampa!!! By 1915 main line had reached Alligator Point east side Gulf Freeway now just across SR 178 from city limits new terminus Lake Worth Station Irma Epps served as Xcel Energy Center during late 1990s & 2000s Hurricane seasons !! After being hit hard by 2008 pandemic health crisis many people left town & downtown redevelopment began almost immediately following pandemic onset less than two blocks awayfrom original apopkaschool Arena which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2009 !! Today most downtown businesses have reopened but some have closed because their customers relocated or decided not to return after experiencing significant setback with health care industry due to pandemic!!! In 1894Apopka Male High School replaced old Wilkinson Female High School which burned down in 1886!!!! In 1907 new high school building designed by prominent architect Rudolph Mies van der Rohe opened replacing old Methodist Episcopal Hospital building designed by Mrs Eleanor Roosevelt) With additions such as: Gymnasium (1925), Auditorium (1936), Suburban Library (1945), Children’s Playground (1967), Administration Building (1969), Art Gallery (1975) !!! APOPKA SCHOOL DISTRICT #1 has become Canaday Unified School District effective September 15TH 2003 thruApril 30TH 2020

Apopka, Fla. is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Apopka post office was established on December 12, 1892 and discontinued operation in 1966. The name of the town comes from an area near Apopka Creek which had been used as a hunting ground by Seminole Indians for centuries before white settlement began in this area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Apopka were Frenchmen who landed there on July 14, 1775 during the American Revolution and named it after Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de la Fayette's army encampment two miles downstream on Jupiter River at Fort Marion (present day Sanford). In 1881 the Florida Railroad built a line from Jacksonville to Tampa and Apopka became one of its towns; it was officially incorporated as a city on February 3, 1925. By 1930 the population had grown enough that it decided to secede from Pasco County and become an independent municipality under the name of Oviedo with its own mayor and council but still sharing services with Pasco County. In 1936 Oviedo annexed most of unincorporated territory east of US Highway 192 including present day Apopka; this annexation left Ovieda with a total population of 41 residents when the township formed again in 1956. Apopka has experienced several large growth periods over time: 1951-1956 when it reached 100% growth due to World War II military detachments stationed there; 1969-1976 when it reached 200% growth due to increasing industrial production within its borders because of new Interstate 95 southbound access located just east of town; 2006-2010 when its population increased by more than 50%. currently there are over 800 people living in apopkaflorida
