The Altamonte Springs gun target history is a long and varied one. The target range, located east of Altamonte Springs in a rural setting, has been used by locals and visitors for over 100 years. On July 3rd, 1907, the first target was shot at the range. It was an advertising campaign for Winchester Ammunition Company. At that time, the range only had three targets: a man with a shotgun on his back, another man dressed as a cowboy tilted to shoot an animal at close range; and an owl sitting on its perch. In 1916, Altamonte Springs became Florida's 25th state and it opened up its fire lanes to civilians. The range served as both a training ground for the military and also became popular with law enforcement agencies as they used it to simulate shooting ranges in their officer's uniforms. In 1923,Altamonte Springs added 11 more targets: six bulls-eye type targets (one each side of the middle), four “M” shaped targets (two on either end of the "M"), two cannons (mounted on posts near each other), two handguns (one on top of each post), two rifles (deployed from elevated positions), and one air rifle firing live rounds out of a barrel into small pouches attached to stakes in the ground.

Altamonte Springs, Florida is a city in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 108,424 as of the 2010 census. It is the only city in Palm Beach County and it lies on the western edge of Miami-Dade County. The Altamonte Springs area was first inhabited by indigenous people. The Spanish arrived in 1565 and named this area "Mantenimiento" (meaning "settlement"). In 1836, Captain John Stoneman of the United States Exploring Expedition passed through this area on his way to Haiti. He named the creek that now runs through Altamonte Springs after José María Altamontes y Pérez, one of his captains. In 1878 Congress designated what are now Palm Beach County and Miami-Dade County as part of Seminole Indian Territory under US jurisdiction due to their status as Native American reservations. This designation made them available for annexation by other countries; Mexico annexed them in 1912 while Puerto Rico did so in 1916. On July 1, 1907, what is now Broward County was created from parts of Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties; Altamonte Springs was not included within that county until 1941 when it became an incorporated municipality within Miami-Dade County proper. On April 5, 1974, with the passage of Publius v . Wade (4th Cir., 1973), which declared that all municipalities within Miami-Dade must be admitted into state government atonce or they would go bankrupt (as happened to many smaller towns throughout south Florida), Altamonte Springs became an official city withinMiami-DadeCounty properalong with South Bay Village and Englewood Cliffs

Altamonte Springs, Florida is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 21,594 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Polk County. The city is located on the Altamonte River and is bordered by Lake Okeechobee to the east, Hendry Hills to the west, and Pahrump Hills to the north. The first European settlers in what would become Altamonte Springs were French-Canadian trappers who arrived in 1768. By 1821, Englishman John Richardson had also landed there with his family from England. In 1826, Colonel Robert Ewing founded Miami University in what became Altamonte Springs after purchasing land from Ybor City leaders for $1 million (the equivalent of $102 million today). The early years of Altamonte Springs were difficult because it was located on an agricultural frontier where cattle and crops were both important assets. However, through hard work and determination, the community eventually grew into one of the most prosperous cities in Southwest Florida during its early days. In 1903, a group of businessmen led by Mayor Harry Burnett formed a civic booster organization called "The Committee for Progress" to promote downtown development; this group helped initiate many of present day amenities such as streetlights and sewers that are now integral parts of downtown Altamonte Springs. The positive effects that came from these initiatives have led to growth and progress throughoutAltamonte SPRings over time - including doubling its population over just 25 years! On July 4th 1907 – just two years after its incorporation as a town – Altamonte Springs experienced its first fire when several houses caught on fire near Second Street and Park Avenue. helpers soon arrived with hoses to put out the flames which quickly reached 10 acres; however firefighters continued fighting all night until morning bringing about significant damage before finally quitting for lunchtimemerely saving some homes that could not be saved due to arson charges! This event made headlines across America as well as being chronicled by author Harlan Ellison in his book For Whom The Bell Tolls! On October 1st 1920 residents voted overwhelmingly (73% against) to change their name from "Miami" (an earlier spelling given only to Indianola) back to "Altamont." After much deliberation, voters decided against changing it again three weeks later – choosing instead “Polk” after then-Governor James Kenedy's father who had once served as mayor of Miami Beach! As part of this rename process Polk was also added onto streets such as Dixie Highway/Second Street/Alameda Drive/Everett Road etc., symbolizing continuing growth within our community despite past disagreements about name choice In 1957 voter approval granted ranches adjacent to Altamonte Lakes Southern Park Preserve & Hunting Preserve open for hunting season; this marked yet another milestone for our community which enjoyed consistent success during those years hosting successful deer hunts every year despite occasional NRA protests! Today hunters enjoy access not only inside & outsideofthe preserves but even outsideoftheCityofAltamonteSprings itself via private land adjoining HWY 27 just south of City limits !
The area now known as Altamonte Springs was first settled by the Seminole people in the late 18th century. The area became a part of Florida in 1959, following a state law that established the state's Eastern Panhandle as an Indian reservation. In 1963, Altamonte Springs was officially incorporated as a city.
