In 1886, construction began on what would become Altamonte Springs' first golf course; it opened to play just over a decade later on November 25th, 1889! Today, more than twenty years later (and with more than $100 million worth of investment), Altamonte Spa's six championship holes - including five within walking distance of downtown - still offer something for everyone!

In 1928, Altamonte Springs State Park was established adjacent to the resort and remains a popular spot for swimming, fishing and bird watching today. In 1951, President Dwight D. Eisenhower ordered all U.S. military bases closed within five miles of Miami-Dade County because he felt it would reduce air traffic over parts of South Florida which he considered essential to national defense. Altamonte Springs was one such base and saw increased traffic as soldiers moved back intotown during the Korean War era while other bases were closed elsewhere inSouth Florida. In 1979, businessman Jack Citrin boughtAltamonteSpringsresortanddevelopeditintooneofthelargestresidentialareasysteminFloridantothattime。HerenameditCitrinResidenceLandingforthepurposeofpromotinghispropertiesilenceandtourismratherthanthespeedofgrowthassociatedwithmanyotherMiami-DadeCounty Properties at that time。Citrin died in 1990 but his wife continued marketing and developing Citrin Residence Landing until her death in 2003; it is now known as Citrin Place Apartments.). By this time, many high-end properties had been developed around downtown Orlando including cases such as MGM Grand Orlando International Airport which became One mile wide and Deep underground with its own express elevator service
