More than $140 million worth of damage was done to housing units inAltamonteSprings alone- making it one of Floridas most destructive hurricanes ever before or since records began. However much has changed since then with so many people moving into town during the late 1990s through development around Interstate 495/Upper White Road which made commuting much easier for those living hereabouts In recent years there have also been some modest developments downtown with shopspace opening up along I-4 95 but overall things are still pretty much as they were back in 1984 when Maxwell hit
