In 1966, Deerskin & Leather merged with National Holsters Corporation to form National Holster Company. In 1984, National Holster Company merged with Browning Firearms Corporation to form Browning-National Firearms Corporation. Today, Browning-National Firearms Corporation produces handguns for both personal protection and law enforcement use.

One notable resident of Middletown over the years has been former President George H W Bush who spent many weekends during his childhood summers hereabouts before attending school in Dover Township north of town while his father managed nearby Willow Run Air Force Base and mainsequently being one of only two living Presidents who were born outside of Washington D C (the others being Franklin D Roosevelt).

Middletown, Delaware is a town in Kent County, Delaware, United States. The population was 2,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dover–Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Middletown was Nicholas de Vere who arrived in 1682. In 1797, John Dickinson purchased the lots that now make up Middletown from Nicholas de Vere and set out to found what would become Delaware's second largest city. Middletown experienced a rapid growth after it became the capital of Delaware in 1802. The original brick courthouse and jail were built between 1805 and 1806 by local bricklayer William Woodward. The city grew rapidly because it became the site of several important state government buildings such as the State House (1802), Court House (1811), and Treasury Building (1812). In 1814, when Delaware declared its secession from England, MiddletOWN voted to remain within the new nation as part of "the Confederation". However, soon after this vote occurred an inflammatory riot took place throughout the city which left 10 people dead and more than 100 injured. This event has been called one of America's most significant riots ever. In 1861 MiddletOWN became a county seat with Wilmington becoming its first incorporated municipality two years later; however due to jurisdictional issues with Dover City over land ownership issues continued until 1973 when all municipalities were merged into Dover-Wilmington Metro Statistical Area unofficially without any vote by residents or referenda/ballots being taken etc.. Middletown saw some major development during World War II including: construction of Fort Monmouth Naval Station on Creek Beach Road in 1942; Grumman Aircraft Plant on Cedar Avenue overlooking I-95 in 1943; establishment of Naval Air Station Cecil Field on Sandspit Road near today's bankside Bridgeport Township limits; expansion of Newark Airport into what is now known as DEW Park while also developing Elizabethtown adjacent to today's shopping mall area - all while remaining largely self-contained within its own walls (albeit sharing services with Wilmington) . After World War II ended there was little real thrust towards redevelopment until around 1970 when zoning regulations changed which led to increased development along Interstate 95 corridor near where he Port Of Dover sits today – though much less substantial than before given present day infrastructure constraints
