This ordinance was known as the Gun Owners' Protection Act and it helped provide firearms safety for residents of Norwalk. In 1907,Norwalk began using gaslights to illuminate its streets and alleys. The first gaslight system in Connecticut was installed in Norwalk by the Electrician's Light CompanySystem. In 1934,Norwich began using radar technology to detect firearm malfunctions on its streets and alleys. This technology was later developed into the gun interlock system which is currently used in many states across America

Norwalk was first settled by Protestant Europeans who were escaping religious persecution in England. They built small houses on land they had bought from Native Americans. In 1795, Reverend Nathaniel Wadsworth organized a group of settlers to purchase 1,000 acres (400 ha) of land along what is now Long Island Sound from the natives for $1 per acre. They named their new settlement Norwalk after their home town of Norwich in England. In 1824, Norwalk became part of Fairfield County and remained so until 1959 when it became part of Connecticut's newly formed norwalk-on-the-hudson Valley District according to an act passed by the state legislature on February 14, 1959. The village that developed around Norwalk has undergone many changes since its incorporation as a town in 1955; however some aspects have not changed much such as its name or geographic location: today’s Norwalk features businesses with locations throughoutLong Island Sound as well as inland Connecticut towns such as Danbury and Windsor Locks; while its downtown core remains unchanged since 1955 despite increased development activity taking place nearby including two high school campuses which opened in 2006 and 2007 respectively In recent years there has been an increase in social media use among residents especially among younger generations which has helped connect them more closely with one another through using platforms like Instagram and Facebook norwalk_ct

The first Europeans to arrive in Norwalk were Giovanni da Verrazzano and his team of sailors in 1614. Trade with New England began soon after, and Norwalk grew rapidly as a result of its location on the main trade route between London and New York City. In 1795, Norwalk became an incorporated town under state law. At that time it had a population of 4,500 people. In 1812Norwalk was attacked by John Brown and his followers as they tried to escape from jail after being arrested for inciting a rebellion against British rule. The attack led toidespread panic throughout much of northeastern Connecticut due to reports of an upcoming insurrection by Brown's group of ∼100 men who were intent on overthrowing British authorities. Norwalk's growth continued into the 19th century as railroad construction increased traffic through the town; however, during this time many businesses closed or relocated because of competition from larger towns in central Connecticut such as Bridgeport and Stamford which had experienced similar growth rates during that same period without any corresponding impact on norwalk's economy). By 1920 Norwalk had reached its peak population with 24,000 residents (though this number declined rapidly following World War I) but declined again following the Great Depression until having a population of 15,000 in 2007 according to US Census Bureau estimates . Additionally Norwich-based company Wabash Oil & Gas Corporation located their corporate headquarters adjacent Toeplitz Road until 2008 when they moved out into Downtown Norwich . This event marks one instance where large companies have chosen not to locate withinnorwich for economic reasons creating mixed economic development outcomes for both cities .
