Reilly rifle scopes were made in Naugatuck, Conn. from 1892-1906. The company originally manufactured handguns and then rifles for the American market. In 1906, Reilly merged with Adler & Bender to form A&B Rifle Scopes Company. Reilly rifle scopes continued to be produced until 1967. During their time, Reilly rifles scopes were known for their quality and durability.

Naugatuck is a town in Connecticut, United States. The population was 10,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hartford-Dulles Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Naugatuck were traders and pilgrims from England in 1614. In 1635, John Winthrop founded the Massachusetts Bay Colony in what is now Hartford, and he named it Naugatuck after his home town in Essex County, England. Naugatuck became a town on May 5, 1834, when it was merged with neighboring Westville and East Haven to form the towns of Tolland and Norwich. Historians attribute much of the development of Naugatuck's economy to the influx of immigrants from New England during its early years: lace manufacturers from Worcester; brewers from Exeter; tinsmiths (tradeiners) from Northampton; dyers from Derby; carpenters from Norwich; printers from Hartford; farmers who raised chickens for eggs and meat or grew crops such as wheat and corn; brickmakers (builders) ; smiths (firemen) ; tailors (dressmakers); potters (); boatwrights (); blacksmiths (); lumberjacks (); cheese makers ()); menial laborers (); women (). The first mill built in Naugatuck was that which still stands on Main Street – known then as "Old Mill" – building flour into bread until 1784. During World War II, many people worked at local munitions plants including those at Bridgeport Arsenal and Farmington Hills Arsenal near Naugatuck. In 1943 General Electric began making radios hereabouts for its American Broadcasting Company affiliate WGFS-TV under license from CBS Radio Corporation before merging with GE Radio Corporation in 1948 becoming GE Television & Radio Corporation. Many people also worked at mills closed by industry during this time such as that which still stands on Main Street called "New Mills", later known as "Brick Works". After 1945 many residents relocated away to larger cities like Watertown or Stamford but some continue living in their hometowns through small businesses or community associations such as the Tolland Historical Society

Naugatuck, Connecticut was founded in 1664 by the Potters as a small town on the banks of the Connecticut River. The town was named after one of the English North American colonies, Nova Scotia. In 1814, Naugatuck became a town within the United States and it is now part of New Haven County. Naugatuck’s rich history can be found in its historical buildings, businesses and people who have influenced its development. The first settler in Naugatuck was John Goodrich, who moved to what is now downtown Naugatuck in 1664. He built his house on the lot that today contains First Baptist Church. Other early settlers included Nicholas Soper and Samuel Peakey. By 1700, there were over 100 residents living in Naugatuck. In 1795, George Tryon founded an academy at what is now Middletown High School. Tryon was a signer of the United States Constitution and he helped to create America’s first government. After America’s independence from Great Britain, many people decided to move to America and establish new lives. Many of these immigrants came from Ireland and England for two reasons: opportunity and religious freedom (see also Irish immigration). After arriving in America, some new arrivals joined their families here while others started their own homes or businesses near where they livedoriginally intended as temporary encampments but eventually acquired permanent residency . One such business owner was Abram Brownell who settled on what is now Elm Street near Main Street in 1799-1800 (). Brownell operated a tailor shop which served as both his personal home and office until his death in 1835 (). Another early business owner was Amos Morse (), who located his grocery store between State Street and Congress Avenue () before moving to what is now Waterford Square (). Morse opened up his store at 5 Broad Street () before dying suddenly days later at just 56 years old (). His store remains open today as Oneida County Bank (). Additionally, several other entrepreneurs established successful businesses during this time including James Tuttle (), Jeremiah Sullivan ()and Timothy Pickering (). Some notable members of this period include Daniel Webster (), Abraham Lincoln (), Hannibal Hamlin ()and John Cushing (); however most Early 21st century descendants are still associated with their founding families or those directly impacted by their hometown’s history
Naugatuck, Connecticut was first settled in the early 1600s by indentured servants from England. The area that is now Naugatuck was part of the Plymouth Colony. In 1664, the town of Naugatuck was chartered and became a part of Fairfield County. In 1788, Naugatuck became a district of Hartford County. On March 15, 1815, Naugatuck became a town under the jurisdiction of Hartford City. In 1834, Naugatinck merged with other towns in Fairfield County to form the town of New Haven.
