The city of Milford was founded in 1837 by Congregationalists and became a town in 1851. In 1959, it became a village. In 1970, it became an unincorporated community. On October 15th, 2007, the town of Milford voted to annex the neighboring community of South Windsor into its boundaries and become one giant municipality with a population of 508 residents. The history of red dot sights goes back to at least 1949 when two United States Air Force officers purchased an early model red dot sight from Adolph Auerbach on behalf of the USAF's Weapons Evaluation Directorate (WED) as part of their research into night-time precision shot using machine guns and rifles. WED used these sights during Operation cobra during the Vietnam War and later trials utilizing M1 Garands were carried out at Eglin AFB beginning in 1968/69 using Auerbach's sighting equipment which included both red dots and tritium flood lights fornight operations under various names including "EagleEye" and "Planetary." These early reddot sights were also employed on various other platforms such as Marine Corps Small Arms Training Unit weapons fire school shipboard exercises involving rifles from 1963 through 1966; aircrew training with F-4C Phantom aircraft during 1967; Navy surface warfare gunnery practice off USS Constitution (R 76) during 1969; helicopter flyover missions over Lebanon prior to that country's invasion in 1982; Desert Storm missile attacks against targets inside Baghdad Province on August 14th (Operation Desert Shield); combat searchlight use against insurgent forces south of Anbar Province near Najaf Airport late summer 2003 - this being among many documented instances where ADI Red Dots have been successfully employed during US combat operations worldwide since they first made their appearance circa 1949

In 1837 Milford was chartered as a borough by voters in response to a government survey that showed strong demand for services within its limits. On February 2nd 1837 it united with Stamford to form the new town of Stamfordville which had a population of 11,000 people when it merged with Milford on July 1st 1860. As part of the Great Migration period from Europe during World War II many Japanese Americans moved to Milford from outlying areas such as West Hartford and EastHartford because they feared being drafted into combat or having their homes taken away during the war effort. Many residents also came from Bridgeport during this time because there were few opportunities for work outside of Hartford City proper due to prohibitionism at that time. After the war many residents returned home and businesses reopened while others continued to migrate until about 1970 when all but 3% of the population remained foreign born making it one of only two towns in Connecticut without any immigrant populations over 10%. Most notably post 9/11 America's largest military base – George Washington Air National Guard Base – has been located in downtown Milford since 1941 surrounded by high walls along both sides by undeveloped property currently used as housing units and classrooms for local schools including: Hartwick School District #1; John F Kennedy High School; Andover Middle School; waive Academy Charter school serving grades 8th through 12th gradeinderobeingone large school building which houses all classrooms needed for daycare facilities located behind high fences beyond which playgrounds.,and two tennis courts available only to members of Military Police Squadrons 134 & 207
