Middletown's history can be traced back to 1684 when English colonists arrived in what is now Middletown for religious reasons. early settlers were farmers who used their land for raising crops and hunting game; later they began manufacturing goods such as candles, hats, clothing and soap from wood that they exported from their township. In 1831, when MiddletOWN became a borough it had a population of 1,000 residents which increased when it voted to become an incorporated town on February 14th of that year with its current size of 2 thousand residents today. The cityscape of downtown Middletown has been largely unchanged since it was founded over 250 years ago: A main shopping area consisting of several stores along Main Street with also 3 or 4 restaurants as well as various other businesses are found near center square while smaller side streets lead off into residential neighborhoods with many homes dating back to colonial times including some built by Isaiah Whitney himself! Many people visit Downtown during lunchtime or after work looking for some peace and quiet away from all this hustle and bustle but I have yet encounter anyone who really enjoys living there-I think most just go through the motions because there’s always something going on! One recent development that caught my attention was construction happening next door (to our left) called Gilded Cage which looks like something out of an old horror movie! It’s actually quite fun if you get lost inside though I would advise against visiting if you don’t know where you are going!

Middletown lies on both banks of Ransom Creek, about 12 miles long from its source to its outlet into Long Island Sound. The width of Middletown is about 2 miles; its elevation is about 400 feet above mean sea level. The first Europeans to explore this area were Captain John Smith and his party who went ashore on July 14, 1636 at what is now known as Point Ledyard in present-day Massachusettsbay district of Hartford County. They named their discovery “New Amsterdam” after their sponsor, James II of England who had granted them permission to trade with New Spain near Havana harbor (then Cuba). The town that developed around Point Ledyard soon became known as Middletown because it lay at one end of a large peninsula which extended into Long Island Sound and formed part of what was then called East Rutland Township (now South Windsor). At first there were just three houses here – built between 1636-37 by Increase Maguire – but soon others began moving into Middletown from areas including Waterbury and Stratford because it offered better access to trade with Spain than did those towns on Long Island Sound where English settlers lived and traded products they produced along their shorelines while they watched Spanish ships enter their waters carrying goods from Mexico City allthe way up through Boston Harbor before returning home again loaded down with new Cuban coffee beans ornaments or some other valuable item! Middletown is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 14,692 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Haven–Hartford–Bridgeport metropolitan area. Middletown was founded in 1764 by Captain Joshua Higginson and his wife Sarah Higginson as a small settlement on the site of what is now Middletown Center and other adjacent properties. The first post office opened in 1765 and was known as Newtown. In 1814, Middletown became part of the newly formed Hartford County when it was split from Middlesex County. The town's growth continued through the 19th century with construction of new roads and infrastructure such as an express track to create a central business district. During World War II, Middletown served as one of five towns in Connecticut that were set up to house military personnel barracks called "Gitmo." In 1957, Middletown merged with Bridgeport to form the larger Bridgeport-MiddletOWN Metropolitan Area which has since grown into one of southern Connecticut's most populous areas. In 2016, the city of Stamford annexed parts of northern Orangeville Township which makes up much of southeastern Greenwich Village Neighborhoods AND much smaller portions (but still including much core demographics)of eastern West Hartford Township
