At that time, every family had their own house or small plot of land located near where they lived and worked - something that still exists today in some areas of MiddletOWN such as King's Chapel Road (Route 9) and Old North Main Street (Route 12). Some early settlers also built grist mills on Bogardus Creek adjacent to their homes while others started shopping malls around present day Central Park/Highway 10 minutes away by horseback or wagon drawn wagons – one such mall still stands today called “The Square” at 5 Broadwalk Plaza northbound on Broadwalk; it opened on October 15th 1916 and closed January 3rd 1998 due to heavy traffic congestion.).
