By 1800, when Danbury became part of what is now Hartford County, it already had a rich colonial history which included several landmark events such as: -A group of nine men - three farmers and six tradesmen - set out from Farmington on October 8, 1662 under Captain John Smith en route from London to Fort Beale near modern-day Lyme Regis in search for new land westward along present-day Route 1

Danbury is a town in Connecticut, United States. The population was 453 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hartford-Worthington, CT Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was first settled in 1764 by settlers from Northampton, Massachusetts. The original name of the town was Danbury vestry and street. In 1834, it became an incorporated village and in 1868, it became a city. The first settler in what is now Danbury was Nicholas Hanks who built a cabin onRW6 across from present day Arlington Park in 1764. Hanks family moved to this area around 1800 when they purchased 4 acres (1 hectare) of land along the Mystic River from John Snow for $400 cash and 2 horses. He named his new settlement "Danbury" after his old home town of Northampton, England where he had been born some years earlier. In 1834, Danbury's incorporation as an incorporated village arrived with news that Hartford had annexed neighboring towns! The citizens of Danbury quickly ratified incorporation by referendum and soon began planning their own streets and buildings within the limits set forth by Hartford Township which at that time stretched all the way to Wallingford! Prior to its annexation into Hartford Township (later updated as South Windsor), Danbury had no limits governing its width or depth; thus any building or structure erected within its boundaries would have been subject to regulation by either township orHartford City! It wasn't until 1862 thatDanbury annexed into newHartford Township which then went through several changes including becoming Mapleton before finally being renamed South Windsor in 1978 following amalgamation with other municipalities within Hartford County including West Bloomfield, Milford Haven and Easton! Today much of downtown Danbury can be found between State Street/Route 9 southward near Springdale Elementary School on one side and Washington Avenue eastward past Northeast High School on the other side - evidence that even back then community spirit mattered!
Danbury was founded in 1765 by John Danbury and his brother, Nicholas. It became a city on April 15, 1814. The first mayor of Danbury was Samuel Morse.
